Cross Chats, my view
replied on: 8/11/2005 9:38:01 AM Tal Free's and lilones; I have to agree with Lady Taluna and Blackhand1 .... A Gorean is a Gorean no matter where they are or what chat venue. Whether that be at halsoft, voodoo, MSN, yahoo, AW, or palacegor ... depends where Each one is comfortable at, and being with there fellow gorean Ffriends, not losing track or whatever the reason. RP for Each other is what they make it be for Tthem, some goto the extreme and try to take it further ... now You show Me the planet Gor cause there is none in this universe, John Norman wrote a fantasy of how things in HIs mind and phylosophy of Gorean thinking.... there has been many debates about this since the 60's since the first novel that came out... and there will always be debates about it... The truth is in real Gorean is based on the Eastern Lifestyle, it is taken in bits of Europoen ways as well. In real I live and breath the ways of the Eastern Lifestyle, I Mentor and Train those in the Gorean way with the Eastern Lifestyle and philosophy added online so they do not get caught up in the fantasy as many has online, what is good for one Home might not be good for another, one should never cast stones or rocks or Boulders to make one Stand, but like what We have been doing on Palace Gor for as long as I can remember is make it stronger and better for Eeveryone in it and as real as possible. Alot of Homes are in alliance and work together and look out for one Aanother, We try and make this a better community and many talk in other chat venues, should they be denied not to NO , should they talk to those that are new in other venues YES ... reason for spreading Yyour wings is if You can help out in Your Homestone and make it strong and enrich it by helping Oothers then not only will the Homestone benefit from it but in the end Yyou will to. Meaning Your Home will grow or might not but at least You see Both sides of the coin. There are Gorean Festival that is held in Palace Gor where those in Palace Gor want to participate can and I have had My HomeStone Tor~Tu Gor in it 3 times and will be its 4th come this October ... it brings many ppl from many chat venues a few times there were like 96 ppl at the festival which is awesome. We learn to work together and help those that are new to Gor and help enrich them so they can grow and prosper that is the Gorean Way. Oh and on the note of Cross Chat ... I don't really visit any others except other Gorean Homes in Palace Gor , I just like to see for Myself what happens in halsoft and voodoo Gor ... although I tried Voodoo chat and could not even find anyone that was Gorean so I got rid of it. I wish Aall a wonderful day Ta Sadar Gor .LadyZoe~RW ¤}T{¤ Tatrix of Tor~Tu Gor tor.tugor.maniaserv.com:9998 |

Cross Chats, my view
replied on: 8/11/2005 10:16:56 AM Lady Zoe, I am sure you can relate to those that do not feel trying to cross chats for the purpose of roleplay makes any sense, by your own words you kept refering to things within your venue that your venue as a whole worked together on, it wasn't another chat and your chat doing this together. I myself agree we cannot tell anyone how to do things, however if I was to visit in another chat, Gorean as I am, I would have no say or control over the city I am Admin of in the chat I call my home, nor would I expect my being a scribe to be recognized since in another chat I had not had any training, my mentors would be unknown names. There is nothing wrong with educating anywhere we may wander, but there is a strong difference between teaching a person about Gor and roleplaying being on the planet. Which I believe was the original intention of this thread. If we use the same "persona" in all of them, have the same homes and try and claim the same authority, then we are slicing up the world, claiming our personas can bend the laws of physics and in essence are ourselves Preist Kings (as they have the means to control planets). I have not supported cross venues since the first time the topic was brought up. I have known many many people that are in various chats, and all of them told me very clearly they keep them seperated. What occurs in one version of Gor will not occur in another because you do not have the exact same "players" involved in the game. Your laws will be different within each given chat and how your community as a whole deals with things will be done differently. To me my "Homestone" is located on the Gor found within HalSoft. As a Gorean born there and raised there, for me at least, my persona, could never dream of there being more than the one version of the world. Maybe if some were weren't into being power hungry and could grasp the true meaning behind what that plain small ordinary stone they swore upon at thier coming of age was really about they might not be having these issues about different venues at all. It is very sad so many have to argue over something that is so plain to grasp when we could be discussing what Norman meant in what he wrote, learning to better ourselves in whichever version of the world we each have found and can relate to as our homes when on line. ~hoping I have made sense with my thoughts rambling before going to bed.~ |

replied on: 8/11/2005 1:38:07 PM Tal Beast Blade; I understand You completely, and I know if one is a Tatrix, Ubar, Ubara, Ca ... in there Home at another chat venue they cannot claim that in another Gorean Venue providing there is a Home already with that name and they can if there is not a Home there of that name. I know I seen many fight and argue over the most simple things that can be resolved in a calm manor but alot are hot headed and stubborn to. I will not say I am neither, I believe Wwe all are to a degree and have Oour limits. I welcome many to My Home even if another chat venue, what does urk Me is when someone changes there name from one chat venue to another to me that spells out a player a wannabe or someone that is hiding and is ashame for some reason. I am who I am , and always have been and always stood my ground in a very civial manner, there are even some in My Home that are from the old vp that has been in the lifestyle longtime. If I went to visit Halsoft Gor I would be the same as I am back in palace gor. What I am saying is that is it so hard to extend ones hand and welcome from another chat venue into Your Home, they are the same as You learning and striving to be good and Honorable Goreans... there are to much fighting going on in the real world why can't alot online in the Gorean Community not pull together and work together instead of against one another. that is what I was saying or meaning to say when I meantion the palace Gorean Festival.... sometimes I don't explain Myself so well due to My french .. I wish You well and perhaps one day come to palace Gor and visit ... although I will say alot are not like Me <being Myself and down to earth> Ta Sadar Gor .LadyZoe~RW ¤}T{¤ Tatrix of Tor~Tu Gor <on palace gor> |

replied on: 8/11/2005 11:42:33 PM I am going to say this in the simplest ways that I can. Those who are under my charge will not be invovled in any sort of cross venue role-play. I do not care if someone should happen to want to cry about this decision because the simple fact of the matter is that all of this conversation was sparked because I refused to allow someone to do it with my caste. The fact of the matter is that the only people that are in disagreement with this are those that approaced those that they felt they could look up too and find support from and were shot down instantaneously when it came to such suggestions. I have made my opinion clear to those that came seeking my approval for such things and I will never stand behind it. As for the comment on the amount of Goreans in Halsoft I currently have over 100 on my chat tracker so the numbers cannot be as low as some would like to imagine to rationalize their way of thinking. And quite simply put, if you have choosen to go to Voodoo, stay there and do not trouble those of us who are trying to make this work with your mindless blatherings. |

replied on: 8/12/2005 10:25:27 AM To set the record straight, This thread had nothing to do with what your decisions were. This is not a new topic. This has been a long topic of debate that has gone on before your decision occured. Did your decision bring it back to the surface yet once again? Yes, it did for some, but it was not a catalyst for this post. The actual catalyst for this post happened long before Ar began to regain its current popularity and these reasons are my own. replied on: 8/13/2005 1:31:52 PM First of all I want to state that I dont venture to other chats, not that it matters to anyone, because I do well to be the best I can in one. I have tried two before and found it a drain. I do applaud those that can pull it off IF they are the same in each chat venue, Free or slave. With that said let me give an example or two that may make people think twice about crossing chat venues and the repercussions. A Free (male or female) has an established Home, alligance to a City/Town, and perhaps a FC with a few slaves in one chat. What if this Free decided to go to another venue and be a slave? Is this acceptable? What would your first reaction be? Would it depend on gender? What if a slave came from another chat and decided to be a Free and was found out after they had taken a FC and/or slaves? Everyone hollers they are adults and have choices but what does this information do to the people involved with them? Have they been open about it from the beginning? I think not. On another note..what if a slave comes to our venue, has a Master/Mistress in the other one but seeks one in ours? Where is the loyalty of that? Just some food for thought here and questions that have come up in the past. Think most agree that such actions are not acceptable. This topic opens a can of worms some arent thinking about when they agree to cross chatting venues. Soft Paths, Torrie |

replied on: 8/19/2005 7:04:52 AM If I understand this thread correctly. And I would like to think I do.It is the decision of every Gorean Free to do what they feel is best for them.I am S.As I understand it My City is Port Kar.Being of Port Kar not to mention being a Gorean Free.I do as it pleases Me to do.The choices I do agree with the Ubar in this case as to each chosing for them.I owe allegiences to no chat venue.I owe alliegences to My City and The Council that rules it.I visit there being Voodoo.I think honestly that if something is to be done there it should be.What I do there.I leave there.I have friends there and I visit them as is My choice to do.I wish all well that read this. signed as always, S of Port Kar |

replied on: 8/20/2005 9:40:54 AM Tal..........being new to Hal Gor has been a mixed experience. Being new to Gor and wanting to learn is not easy here. Being suspicious of anyone new is understandable, but getting to know new goreans, I would think it would be desirable to be able to grow Gor here. I too am committed and proud of my homestone, and My commitment is to that and always will be. Respecting others for who they hold their allegience too is something I respect. I choose to remain in one Gor chat program as that seems to be plenty for Me. My slave and I have much to learn, but don't doubt the commitment to My homestone and Our home. Sometimes you do things that may betray your codes, but as said by Samos "It is only in such moments, that a man sometimes learns that all truth and all reality is not written in one's own codes." I too feel the Ubar has stated his case well, but be guided by your truth and reality. If you find it changes who you are..be guided by that truth and reality inside you. I am of the Scarlet Caste of Warriors...and My homestone is in the foothills of the Thentis Mountains. I hope We have an opportunity to get to know this community and to share in growth and reality of Gor. I wish you well, Master Rarius |
