Ok again, while I have complete sympathy for those who suffer in the aftermath of Katrina's devastation, this has nothing to do with Gor, and everything to do with Current Events.

Altho I fully agree with what Drakani said about the original post belonging under current events and I wouldnt even begin to minimize the devestation of the post itself..there is a lesson to be learned here even for people online..Gorean or not.

What you do with your time on this earth is important to your family and friends but it doesnt matter how much money you have, how much material things you accumulate...it isnt going to protect you in a time of a natural disaster. Be thankful for your good health, the lives of your loved ones, and the friends you have throughout your life. Life cant be replaced, material things can.

To the point....we as human beings, role players or not, need to get past the egos and the materialistic attitudes many have and get back to basics. Gor in halsoft has dwindled down alot but it will come back, only to be better than before, if WE as a community work together to get it that way. Just like it takes Nationwide efforts to get a disaster area back up and going, it will take group effort to do the same with our community of Gor here in halsoft.

Think about it...

Soft Paths,

i have seen some things said in pretty bad taste before, but Torrie, i think you win the award. to use a post about a tragedy such as this, as a rallying point to admonish people about their dedication to a bloody role play game is so incredibly self centred, i couldnt imagine what is going through your head. never before in my life have i seen anyone make such a careless remark in my life.
i am sure every person touched by this event will now be able to sleep well at night knowing that someone has found a ray of sunshine to be had from out of their misfortune

Actually I'm going to deviate from the thread for a moment. I'm sure everyone of us feels the pain of those who have suffered, not only in this situation but everyday around the world when tragedy strikes however I think this post illustrates very clearly the need to use proper forums.

It has always bothered me, perhaps wrongfully so, to hear people offer condolences or sympathy for r/t tragedies by uttering something like "may the PKs watch over them".

We blur the lines at times in areas that is sort of unsettling. I understand many never bring their r/t to the boards and I don't blame them, but well wishes, sympathies and condolences can be expressed without using our real names.

Gorean events, happenings, cute quizzes and issues concerning roleplay are better served here.

But real time tragedies, losses and celebrations should really stick to the current events section to help us seperate ourselves from the roleplay when it is needed.

I realize uttering Gorean phrases or comparing to roleplay doesn't lessen one's sincerity but I honestly think there is a time and place for everything.

Yes I realize now that I did put this link in the wrong forum. Watching the responses to the post that I offered for those that may be in need of help or trying to find a lost loved one. The point was missed here I believe and this is just my own opinion here as I can not speak for others. Is it more important to try and help in any way possible? Or to worry about where it was posted?

Draw back rayah before you offend unnecessarily. Not one person who posted missed the point. Not one person who posted does not feel the pain of those in need.

Just because it was pointed out that it should have been placed in the other section(you were not the originator of the thread by the way) does not mean that people do not care.

Many of us are already doing much to help. Many of us will do much in the coming days, weeks and months to help friends, family and people we've never met. But it is unlikely we will run to this board or any and trumpet our actions.

So never assume anything about people you do not know simply because they chose to voice an opinion that didn't seem to match your thoughts.

Don't use the suffering of others as a battering ram against people who have done no wrong.

I had no intentions of offending anyone. In posting what I have, if I did then I offer sincere apologies. My only intention was to add something helpful as many others are and have been doing.

Personally I thank you rayah for the link, it allowed me to see more of what is going on and become even more aware of the conditions in areas I have been basically in the dark over. I sat up all night last night watching the news being presented.

Before you start with your sharp, sarcastic tongue Sativa, perhaps you should try to understand the reasons. IM me in halsoft and talk to me after re-reading the entire post because I wont get into a squabling match here as it isnt the place for personal arguements. Remember where the post was originally posted.

I am devestated over the recent events with hurricane Katrina and if there was anyway possible that I could help beyond what I have done already, which I wont go into detail here, I would.

People need to be thankful they are alive and hopefully so are their loved ones. The material things can all be replaced, eventually, but not life.

Sativa, why is it that you cant just let things go and let people be people? I thought what Torrie wrote was very nice. Maybe if you stopped trying to criticize others to make yourself feel better, you would be a happier person and easier to get along with.

And on a side note, I wont be getting into it here with you either. Just let up, will you please?

Now are we not a self righteous, hedonistic, unfeeling lot. Sad.

thousands are dead, people without homes or anything but the clothes on their backs, and torrie is trying to use that as a rallying cry for Gor...and tyana, im fully aware of your personal feelings towards me, so shut it. her post was in very poor taste,,,the whole gist of the thread was supposed to be compassion for a horrific tragedy. and yes i am furious, i havent been able to find my friend wholives there... so pardon me if i think the bodies should at least be cold before some dimwit uses it as an anecdote for better roleplay
