One country alone pledged $500 million dollars to help in cash, oil products and other items. So while many are still so busy pointing and shaking fingers over what they feel isn't being done I thought it was time to illustrate the positives of what is being done. Bartenders raising a glass to help Philadelphia extends brotherly love Massachusettes opening doors Foreign Governments line up to help From Texas to Utah, offers of help Here locally civilian groups are getting together, pooling their resources and renting hotel rooms, houses and apartment to host families sent by the Red Cross. Food drives, clothing drives, essential item gathering is happening all over. People are coming out in droves to help. A few gas stations here are diverting refill tankers to the area affected. Kids here are organizing toy drives for children affected. You might be surprised how much comfort a single teddy bear can bring to a child traumatized. Blood donations are swelling in. Doctors, nurses, rescue personal are volunteering their services to help. Monetary donations are piling up all over the country and the world. People DO care, from the highest level of our Government to the ordinary citizen on the street. So while there is plenty of should ofs and could ofs to go around there is a whole lot of good going on. If you aren't involved in some way already then perhaps there's a little something you can do to help out. |
