I beleive in good role play but this is a bit ridicules as far as i am concern. There is a FW going around saying she has a daughter in her id, find and dandy..But since I was told by the admistrator of the place she is at that she is a new name how the heck does she come to gor and have a grown daughter all ready. She never been FC at lest not under this name. Adoption, I can see if it was a child but a grown FW?? Am I missing something or is this another example of the kind of role play that comes out of that place?

i think if the woman in question has done her homework and at least concocted a past to explain this child, then it would work. we come here as adults to Gor, with pasts, so a child isnt out of the realm of possibility. i had two kids, which i killed off in a story a few years ago. i am not fc'd, but in my story, i was. i felt it only fair to have him killed off too

I doubt it. But I am sure the admistrator will speak up for her as she always does for all the people of her city

Tryp one of you is plenty, we don't need a whole 'stinking' litter of you.

Besides the title of this thread begs the question, where will The 3 Wise Men come from.

But seriously I have to agree with the Ubara, this whole family scenario in HalGor reminds me of a bad Arkansas movie.

how silly. Outa the Tahari, riding 3 magnificent kailla, bearing gifts. Everyone knows that.

And...wot's wrong with a couple more o me?

Kidding aside. I've seen a few FW here n there over the last year or so who have done that. I believe I even questioned Beast about that. I mean, a FW having a child without an FC is a serious offense is it not? And, I believe the FW in question was a Physician. I thought female physicians had to have had 2 children before they could become physicians, so maybe thats where the one I saw decided to produce 2.........without an FC....who magically appeared after something was said. I suppose it depends on what stretch of the books is permitted in your area of role play?

This is roleplay ... for good roleplay you need a back story ... so why can't she have that background ... she corrected the fact about an FC when she found she had missed that ... how many other people have a background story that is something not roleplayed on their current chat realm but just brought along with them and how many people in Gor chat have been here long enough to have a grown child ... instead of complaining about it, if they have done something that is illogical or wrong by Gorean standards, let them know and help them to straighten it out. None of us are perfect.

What's your History Grethos??? Do you have a background story???

Actually all kidding aside, Tuck and Sativa have a valid point.

Most of us plan out characters using what knowledge and standards we know. Often I see many complaining about how people come to Gor and play out their 30 days, making argument that they could not have children or they could not have free champions’ or they could not own slaves. Why could they not, believably they can say that they were born on Gor. Not everyone that enters Gor wishes to be from Earth, some of us do have enough knowledge of Gor to actually state we were born in some part of Gor. And how could any one person know the entire census of Gor and where everyone came from (And one cannot say from locate, if you ask me it is abused in Halsoft).

My character was born and raised on Tyros, I do not play a man that is now or ever has been of earth. Thinking narrow-mindedly is a problem; we sometimes fail to step back and look at all the possibilities. Is this woman’s story likely, of course, it is. Maybe rather then passing judgment, we could take 5 minutes and make inquiries. If her story does not fit in the books then you would be doing all Gor a service by guiding the person in the right direction. We were all new once and made mistakes, in fact most of us still do. No one is perfect, nor will everyone ever be perfect.

(Edited to give credit where credit is due.)

Any thing is possible Jehan....but I do think all people should have some sort of back ground on themselfs......not one just made up to cover there asses at the last minute, Which I am sure will happen in this case.

I agree 100%, I had my character fleshed out somewhat before I even picked a name. My caste changed in the first 2 days only because of the location we selected and I noticed not many played low castes so at a friend's suggestion I picked mine.

I do not know the woman so therefore I am speaking only on general terms when I say about possibilities.

My first gorean name never had a history and it was short lived (as it turned out) in any case. This character, through the several names it's worn, is also gorean born, and its history has been detailed both in chat and on board stories. It wasn't something i thought up over a day or week, but it evolved over the past three odd years when i began it.

Coming to gor with a child is not completely out of the realm of possibility (although i think it would be highly improbable or at least rare), but it is generally wise to have at least some type of preface so that people you may encounter can have a general idea of where you're planning for your character to go, roleplay-wise.

Think of it as a prologue to a novel, something that ties in later in the story.

Unless yer character comes into Gor an' ya start roleplayin' as a newborn babe, which I would advise against, yer gonna 'ave some 'istory.

That 'istory could be an FC, a child, a tarn, an affinity fer ale, a limp they got when they were in a fight.

The problem I 'ave, is when someone comes in with or starts procreatin' like bunnies. There's jest no sense in bein' related to 99% o' Gor.

This is after all, Gor, an' not the backwoods o' Alabama!!!!
