If you could pick only one person in your "Gorean Life" be it real time or something to do with online, whom would you say has had the greatest impact in your own personal Gorean Life? And Why?

Well honestly I would say it was a group of women, the PG's of the forest area [Angelina, Luna, Cianne, Fue, Perdita, ST, Star and Hura] as they all would talk the books with me without all the drama that usually ensued in sitting in a city, however for just 1 peron I would have to say the woman that played my mother, WitchBlade, because she always encouraged me and pointed me to others that she knew would also encourage my hunger to learn more about not only the books but the history of the community as a whole.
She never gave up on me.

Arjumand, my slave for the past 4 years, for introducing me to this strange and wonderful lifestyle. And for making me strive to be a better man and master, by reading and taking example from the Books of Gor.

my Master, for constantly challanging what I think is right and wrong And also, for allowing me the space to grow to be a better person and slave for him.

Dream Weaver,

When I was gia_C many years ago he pointed out some aspects both online and realtime I needed to improve on, those words always stuck with me and I took his advice and truly believe I became a better person because of it.

This is a tough question as to pick just "One" person....My whole time being in Gor as a RPr...I have had great people that pushed Me to be better at whatever role I chose!

If I was to choose just one person...-thinks- I can't though I do have two people that I can honestly thank.

One would be Gladius...He was the one that brought Me to Gor...5 yrs ago, damn long time ago...He allowed Me to grow in My role at that time.

Then there is Beast Blade...When things got unusually hard, He used practical ways to help Me over the hurdle... He challenged My thought process in regards to the books and kept My RPing closest to the books as possible...He allowed Me to make mistakes and did not B**** about the decision that I made... I have grown more and more with knowledge as He consistantly keeps an open line of communication with Me and others!

Thank You both!

Even though I am not rp'ing at the moment.

I felt compelled to answer this as well..I do hope noone minds.

Like Nearly everyone, there isn't just ONE person, there are several that influenced Me.

Zenith, Who taught Me to be Myself. No matter which role I chose. She brought out in Me, more that I even knew existed at the time.

The other would be Beast. Who took up where Zenith left off. Who showed Me a even better way to push My role. Still be Myself.

I can't pick just one person. It wouldn't be right.

First, I want to thank all those who have answered so far. I debated on posting the query, but was curious as to whom each would say. In each reply so far, I read the seriousness that each answer was given with, and also the emotion behind it. I hope others might share their thoughts in the coming days.

We all have those we love and cherish in our lives, and it really was a task in asking for us to choose just one. I thought I knew the answer to mine immediately when I posted, but I wanted to make sure, think it through, and ascertain that the person I was going to put was the right one. Each of us has, at one time or another, stopped a moment and realized who the pivotal person was that opened us up to the beauty and even harshness of Gor. It's that person I was looking for in each answer.

For me, after days of assessing my almost 4 years here, it is the same person I originally said.....Luther. (I can hear the I told you so's ~ laughs ~). But, I remember the first day I met Luther, which happend to have been I believe only my second day in Gor. I remember having a question on Gor, and scrolling through Locate with Gor as the search feature. I knew just enough to know that an Ubar would be the leader of his home, and presto! UbarLuther was the only name that showed in my search. I laugh at the naivety then, with the knowledge now of people just putting words in their Idents, but then it was a sincere search for help. I had never even heard of "THE LUTHER". I can't help but tease him now when men and women ask him if he is "THAT LUTHER" with some bit of awe in their voice having heard of his website. But, he took the time to answer even a gorean simpleton's question, and from that day on I have been a pain in his side

Beyond friendship he has challenged me to strive for answers in my questions and arguments (yes, I don't always agree with him *gasps*). He's been patient even with my temper flaring, and simply asked for what logical argument do I have for my opinions. Patience, blunt, pointed and even sometimes bordering harsh is what a great Mentor is. He listens, teaches, and encourages when he should, but also won't let you or he wear rose colored glasses. And that is what Luther has been in my life, beyond anything else. A teacher, a mentor, and certainly not last a wonderful friend. And I have been a headache to him ~grins ~ with endless questions.

Again, thanks for the time you took to answer this post. If you haven't, you should take a look at the post called "5 things". It goes hand in hand with this one, and makes you think .

Thankyou,

I haven't roleplayed in Gor for sometime now and don't suspect I will ever return now but I do read the boards from time to time and wanted to thank you for a post that wasn't consisting of bashing eachother or negative feelings, lord knows the world has enough of that.

I wish you well.

My earliest influence would be Vel. She left an indelible impression on me that can never be erased. To me she is still the epitome of a true Kassar FW.

The most influential Gorean would have to be the man once known as Bewlock/Gaelin. Time spent with him taught me a variety of things, good and bad. It was an interesting time and I wouldn't change a single moment of it.

The most influential couples, well there's a bit of a four way tie. All of these couples made the transition from online to offline and to my knowledge are still going strong. They prove that relationships forged online and/or in Gor don't have to end when the PC is turned off. Hats off to:
Dream Weaver and his lia
Jehan and his arjumand
Gothkiel and searlait
Venom and Bliss

My most durable and lasting friendship, Gor and beyond, would be Tracy, hands down.

There are many people who have affected my life over the past 5yrs, most I would thank sincerely, some I'd rather push off a really high bridge. ~ laughs ~

Guess I picked more than one huh? Not my fault, lol, I could've gone on for a page or two at least.

I've been in and out of Gor since um....thinks...since 2002. Yet it feels longer. A lifetime. It gets in your blood.

I don't think anyone can just pick One person. Like everyone else, We've all been influenced by many, good and bad through out the year/s We've been in Gor.

You have the lifestylers, Rp'ers, Realtimers. Each person has influenced at least one person. Some many.

We've lost a great many of them over the years I've been in and out of Gor. Great Teachers. One and All.

But I would like to thank those that taught Me as well, besides Zenith and Beast, My girl keiko, Beast's girl beauty, My Sis Kari, Other owners I've had over the years that taught Me My role as slave, other Free I've learned From while I was Free.

Each person/s I've learned something from.

I thank You all greatly.

I wish You enough.

While there are several with whom I am very close, the one person who has influenced me most is Luther. His vast array of gorean knowledge seems unending. No matter what questions a person may have, Luther is always willing to help the person find the answers. His dedication and passion for teaching gorean philosophy and ideals have helped many.

His experience and knowledge in role-play is awesome. He knows how to push his role-playing opponents to the edge. He knows how to “make” them think, and he knows how to make role-play adventurous. His expectations are high in that he demands plausible and realistic role-play, and it is these expectations and demands that help people to grow and learn.

Like Emmaline, Luther has been a teacher, mentor, role-playing opponent and a friend to me.

I don't know about the others but I do know these two are still going strong, even with lia's little trips to see the barman..................................................

-grins impishly-

So, if I had to take just one person, it'd be real easy for me to say DW and lia, (I get that on a technicality since they are married and therefore ONE -neener neener neener-)

And because I have Fancy's skillet, I'll take Ratchet too, because I can bully my way through customs with that skillet.

And because Ratchet has to have someone running his bar (and you can better believe that I'll be putting him to work wherever we go)Grethos will just have to come too, so aru will have to come and of course, we have to have Jubei come with us.....

Hmmmm. My suitcases may not be big enough... anyone have any trunks I can borrow???
