A patient's review

Antioch Oral Surgery. If you're anywhere NEAR the Nashville area and need an oral surgeon...don't go.

Dentists. That's my grouch for a whole fekkin week apparently.

Why do they never listen? Every dentist I have gone to has completely ignored my insistence that I am dental phobic and cannot be conscious at any time during a dental procedure. I have metal sensitivity (to the point I actually keep a secure stock of plastic eating utensils). Not to mention I have no tolerance for pain. None. Zero. Zilch.

So I go into this dentists office Tuesday and try for the umpteenth time to explain that I need a general anesthetic, iv sedation, whatever it's called, because I cannot be awake and know that something is being done in my mouth.

I have asthma, so the dentist won't use a general anesthetic. She said she would send me to the hospital, have a tube put in my throat so the machine could breathe FOR me, and then she'd do it, but otherwise general anesthetic is contraindicated for asthmatics.

Never MIND the fact that all my other wisdom teeth I've had pulled, I've been knocked out for with NOOOOOOOO problem. Nary a one.

Bleh.

She did say she could give me an iv drip of valium. She said I'd be semi-conscious but that I wouldn't care what was being done in my mouth.

*snorts*

Why do they never listen????

I was sposed to have 3 teeth pulled yesterday, and only got one. Why? Because the damn woman didn't listen to me! As soon as she put a metal retractor in my mouth, I freaked out. It was cold, and metal, and I, in my drugged-to-the-gills state, thought it was a needle (BIG NO NO). I panicked so bad she couldn't do anything. She could only get the one tooth I had originally gone to see her about, the one actually causing me great pain.

I'm lucky she was able to get THAT one out.

I tried to tell her, several times. Her words after were "well you're just going to have to be knocked out and go to the OR for those other two".

*cusses* uh, DIDN'T I TELL HER THAT BEFORE!? ya fukin nit.

Doctors and their fukin egos. bastards.

So now I have the one tooth out, but not the other two I needed out also. All because the god damned doctor thought she knew everything and wouldn't listen to her patient.
