[11:35 PM] keahi_CoJ lifts green eyes to Master "Tasdrons" words [11:35 PM] Emel_Durandal returns from the hills, standing tall, as he returns to the gardens, and sits where he was before. [11:35 PM] Annwyn looks over to Tas [11:36 PM] Uhuru looks to Moira and wait for her [11:36 PM] Tasdron watches Moira [11:37 PM] Annwyn watches Moira [11:37 PM] Moira drags the boy to the center and shoves him down holding tightly to the leash allowing no room for movement [11:38 PM] Uhuru walks over to them and pulls out my sword [11:38 PM] Emel_Durandal jumps, startled at the sudden movement, and sits watching. Stops just within the gates hearing loud voices, her eyes widen, she shivers standing there and glances behind her, tossing her wine red hair over one shoulder. yet there is no going back only forward...She stops like a doe caught in a hunters eye and she waits for voices to calm down in the home. There is only one Leonidas and anyone who uses that name now sure as hell wont compare to the original. R.I.P Leon you are truly missed. |

replied on: 4/4/2007 2:22:38 PM To suggest that anyone should hold copyright on a name (and place) from history just because people liked him is a bit silly. Yes Leonidas of Sparta (Halsoft) was much loved and is greatly missed, however Leonidas of Sparta was a real man from a real city and likely the person who Halsoft's Leonidas took his name (and name of city) from as well. With the recent release of the movie 300 there exists an adequate argument that perhaps the Leonidas in Voodoo simply took his name from the real man and not the Halosft role-player. To call someone a moron for using a name from History would be the equivalent of calling the Leonidas from Halsoft the same thing. See my point? Who's to say the Leonidas from Voodoo even knows/knew about the Leonidas from Halsoft, afterall there are many people who have never been to Halsoft Gor before. It is true there was only one Leonidas here in halsoft, but that doesn't mean no one else should ever be able to use the name. |

As for your reference to the real man from history. Unless this person is very familiar with ancient history he never would of heard of him .. and from what I know of the man behind the screen in Voodoo he wouldn't know ancient Sparta from ancient Rome. So that only leaves one option. Now as for me calling him a moron... I say that from personal experience with the man. Be Well Goreans |

replied on: 4/5/2007 1:11:21 PM That is one of the risks you run when you post under a hidden name. I don't know you (that I know of) nor do I know the person in Voodoo but apparently you do. So perhaps you have more insight into his character and choices, however, it doesn't change my point. Leonidas of Sparta led the battle of Thermopylae, a mere 300 Greeks against a Persian army of thousands. Having known the Leonidas of Halsoft as well as I did, I know he was acutely interested in history and most certainly chose not only his name, but the name of his home from this event in history. When we lose someone who was well liked it can be hard to accept another with the same name, but none of us has the right to say someone can or cannot use a name simply because someone else had it first. I don't interact with the Leonidas in Voodoo and again, I have no idea who he is/used to be, but he has the same right as any to use a name even if it doesn't sit well with us. |

replied on: 4/8/2007 10:41:59 AM I think since the rules of 3 Moons posting has been revised that's no longer listed as one of em. Although I think I understand why it was done, the posting of Voodoo rp on a Halsoft board (so maybe the slave has no place to run?), it probably shouldnt be done on a Hal Gor Board since whoever and whatever a person was/is in Voodoo is of no consequence to who/what you are when you come to Hal.......or isn't supposed to be. |
