For new GM’s and/or those who wish to refresh themselves, here’s the entire Non-Update Rule: ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------- NON-UPDATE RULE * Each team may designate at least one player who will NOT update to the new disk ratings. He will be bussed-over as is from the previous disk. It can be used on a player who was on the previous season’s disk, but is not on the new season’s disk, as long as he has not officially retired from the NHL. It can also be used on a player whose ratings have dropped. * The same player may not be used as a non-update in 2 consecutive seasons (but see “Important Note” below). * Teams which made the playoffs get 1 non-update, whereas teams that missed the playoffs get 2. * In order to be eligible for this status, an ‘off-disk’ player must be included on a team’s Dispersal Draft list, as either ‘protected’ or unprotected. * A team’s non-update(s), if any, must be declared before Preseason. At that juncture, the commissioner will ask for (remaining) final decisions. Important Note: Because we used the same disk for Seasons 2-3 (due to cancellation of the NHL’s 2004-05 season), the Non-Update Rule was revoked for AHL3 only. Season 2 non-updates remained on the AHL3 disk, with no ‘new’ non-updates in Season 3. Accordingly, the (above) ‘2 consecutive seasons’ stipulation applies to Seasons 2 and 4. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The complete list of current non-updates can be found on the AHL3 page. All of those players are ineligible for non-update status in AHL4. The following (non-playoff) teams are entitled to two non-updates in AHL4: Anaheim Buffalo Colorado Columbus Dallas Detroit Edmonton Montreal Nashville New Jersey NY Islanders Tampa Bay Toronto Washington ----------------------- The following (playoff) teams are entitled to one non-update in AHL4: Atlanta Boston Calgary Carolina Chicago Florida Los Angeles Minnesota NY Rangers Ottawa Philadelphia Phoenix Pittsburgh San Jose St. Louis Vancouver ---------------------- Don / Pittsburgh |
