On the eve of Day 81, this is what we ‘do’ know: --------------------------------------------------------------------- EAST The following teams have clinched playoff spots: BOS / BUF / NYI / OTT / PHI / PIT. Either ATL or WAS will be the 3rd seed. The other will be out. Either MON (as the 7th or 8th seed) or NYR (as the 8th) will ‘make’ the playoffs. The other will not. Either BUF or OTT will be the 1st seed. The other will be the 4th seed. Either NYI or PIT will be the 2nd seed. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- WEST The following teams have clinched playoff spots: ANA / CHI / CLG / COL / NAS / PHX / SAN. Either DET, LAK or STL will be the 8th seed. The other two will be out. CLG will be the 1st seed. Either CHI or SAN will be the 2nd seed. The other will be the 3rd seed. COL will be the 4th seed. --------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------- TIEBREAKERS (same as the NHL) If teams wind-up being tied in Points, playoff seeding will be determined by: 1.
