AHL5 Playoffs: Who's in, who's not
replied on: 6/29/2008 7:06:43 PM Through Day 81, this is what we know: EAST Nothing has changed (see above). The 1-6 seeds are set, with three teams, MON-TOR-WAS, still battling for the final two spots. All three of those teams control their own destiny. The TOR at MON game (Day 82) will be key. A Win ‘or’ Tie will put MON in the playoffs, whereas TOR needs a Win. Meanwhile a WAS Win over FLA will assure the Caps of getting in. ---------------------------------------------------------- WEST The 2-3-4 seeds were all determined on Day 81: (Calgary will be the #1 seed). St. Louis will be the #2 seed. Los Angeles will be the #3 seed. Detroit will be the #4 seed. Otherwise, things remain the same, with the 5-8 spots yet to be determined. CHI-NAS-SAN are ‘in’ while ANA-PHX-VAN are still battling for the final spot. Both Anaheim and Phoenix have two games remaining, with the final game of the season being PHX at ANA. Accordingly, ‘both’ teams control their own destiny. Either can secure a playoff spot by winning its final two games. Again, stay tuned. Don / Pittsburgh |

AHL5 Playoffs: Who's in, who's not
replied on: 7/2/2008 3:29:06 PM Day 82 determined the following: EAST: * Montreal’s 1-0 Win over Toronto eliminated the Leafs while putting ‘both’ Montreal and Washington into the playoffs. WEST: * Phoenix’s 3-2 Win at Dallas eliminated Vancouver. * LAK’s 2-1 Win over Anaheim eliminated the Ducks while putting Phoenix into the playoffs. ------------------------------------------------------------- Accordingly, these are the Round One match-ups: EAST: #1 Pittsburgh vs. #8 Washington #2 Boston vs. #7 Montreal #3 Florida vs. #6 Ottawa #4 NY Islanders vs. #5 Philadelphia WEST: #1 Calgary vs. #8 Phoenix #2 St. Louis vs. #7 Chicago #3 Los Angeles vs. #6 Nashville #4 Detroit vs. #5 San Jose -------------------------------------------------------------- Some reminders: * Before postseason, 3 ‘extra’ rest days will be given. * No extra rest days will be given ‘between’ rounds. * As in the regular season, 3 rest days will be given after each sim. * The playoffs ‘venue’ format will be (as in the NHL) 2-2-1-1-1. * Important: Barring injury, only Goalies with 30-or-more NHL GP are eligible to start a playoff game. * Injuries ‘do’ carryover into postseason, but Magic Beans do not. Nor can you ‘earn’ Beans in postseason. If you have any current injuries, you must use your remaining Beans now, ‘before’ the start of the playoffs. --------------------------------------------------------------- Let the 'second season' begin.
