Atlanta will be the #2 seed. Either Boston or Ottawa will be the #3 seed. Also in: Carolina and NY Islanders. Still alive: Buffalo, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh are battling for the final two spots. Wait ‘til next year: FLA, MON, NYR*, TAM, TOR and WAS. * Note: Although NYR could conceivably wind-up tied with Buffalo for 8th, the Sabres hold the tiebreaker by virtue of a 3-1 edge in the season series. No Round One match-ups have been determined. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WEST: Calgary will be the #1 seed. San Jose will be the #2 seed. Either Chicago, Detroit or St. Louis will be the #3 seed. Also in: Anaheim, Los Angeles and Vancouver. Tee times booked (long ago): CBJ, COL, DAL, EDM, MIN, NAS and PHX. As in the East, no Round One match-ups have been determined. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stay tuned. Don / Pittsburgh |

AHL6 Playoffs: Who's in, who's not
replied on: 5/29/2009 3:11:01 PM After Day 80, with just 2 days remaining in the regular season, this is what we know: EAST: * Boston’s Win over Ottawa gives the Bruins the Northeast Division title along with the #3 seed. * Carolina’s Win over NY Islanders means that Ottawa will be the #4 seed. The current picture: ----------------------------- New Jersey will be the #1 seed. Atlanta will be the #2 seed. Boston will be the #3 seed. Ottawa will be the #4 seed. Also in: Carolina and NY Islanders. Still alive: Buffalo, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh are battling for the final two spots. No Round One match-ups have been determined. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WEST: * Chicago’s two (Day 80) Wins erased whatever chance St. Louis had to win the Central Division. See note below. The current picture: ---------------------------- Calgary will be the #1 seed. San Jose will be the #2 seed. Either Chicago or Detroit will be the #3 seed. Also in: Anaheim, Los Angeles, St. Louis and Vancouver. As in the East, no Round One match-ups have been determined. * Note: Day 82 features two head-to-head games between Chicago and Detroit. Regardless of what St. Louis does, the 4 available Points in those CHI-DET games (no matter how they're divided) will give the Hawks or Wings the division title. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stay tuned. AHL6 Playoffs: Who's in, who's not
replied on: 5/31/2009 3:03:37 PM After Day 81, with just one day left in the regular season, this is what we know: EAST: * Buffalo’s Win over Carolina not only clinched a playoff spot for the Sabres, but also assured them of being the #7 seed. * NY Islanders’ two (Day 81) Wins, combined with two Carolina Losses, assured NYI of the #5 seed, leaving CAR as the #6 seed. The current picture: ----------------------------- New Jersey will be the #1 seed. Atlanta will be the #2 seed. Boston will be the #3 seed. Ottawa will be the #4 seed. NY Islanders will be the #5 seed. Carolina will be the #6 seed. Buffalo will be the #7 seed. Still alive: Philadelphia and Pittsburgh are battling for the final spot. A PHI Win (on Day 82), combined with a PIT Loss, will give the #8 seed to PHI. Any other outcome will give that spot to PIT. The following Round One match-ups are set: ATL-BUF, BOS-CAR and OTT-NYI. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WEST: * Vancouver’s (Day 81) Win, combined with an Anaheim Loss, assured VAN of the #4 seed, leaving ANA as the #5 seed. The current picture: ---------------------------- Calgary will be the #1 seed. San Jose will be the #2 seed. Either Chicago or Detroit will be the #3 seed. Vancouver will be the #4 seed. Anaheim will be the #5 seed. Also in: Los Angeles and St. Louis. Just one Round One match-up is set: VAN-ANA. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stay tuned. Don / Pittsburgh |

AHL6 Playoffs: Who's in, who's not
replied on: 6/2/2009 4:34:34 PM After the final day of the regular season, the playoff match-ups have been determined: EAST: * Philadelphia’s Loss to NY Rangers eliminated the Flyers, giving the #8 seed to Pittsburgh. The Round One match-ups: ---------------------------------------- #1 New Jersey vs. #8 Pittsburgh #2 Atlanta vs. #7 Buffalo #3 Boston vs. #6 Carolina #4 Ottawa vs. #5 NY Islanders Congratulations to the division winners (L.J., Dick and Nick) and to the five other East playoff teams. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WEST: * In the first of two CHI-DET games (on Day 82), Detroit’s Win clinched the Central Division and earned the Wings the #3 seed. * Los Angeles’ Win over San Jose, combined with the above Chicago Loss, gave the Kings the #6 seed. * St. Louis’ Win over Colorado, combined with ‘two’ Chicago Losses, gave the Blues the #7 seed while leaving the Blackhawks as the #8 seed (see note below). The Round One match-ups: ---------------------------------------- #1 Calgary vs. #8 Chicago #2 San Jose vs. #7 St. Louis #3 Detroit vs. #6 Los Angeles #4 Vancouver vs. #5 Anaheim Congratulations to the division winners (Vlad, Derek and Jerry) and to the five other West playoff teams. * Note: Although St. Louis and Chicago finished tied in Points, the Blues hold the tiebreaker (most Wins). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Some reminders: * Before postseason, 3 ‘extra’ rest days will be given. * No extra rest days will be given ‘between’ rounds. * As in the regular season, 3 rest days will be given after each sim. * The playoffs ‘venue’ format will be (as in the NHL) 2-2-1-1-1. * Important: Barring injury, only Goalies with 30-or-more NHL GP are eligible to start a playoff game. * Injuries ‘do’ carryover into postseason, but Magic Beans do not. Nor can you ‘earn’ Beans in postseason. If you have any current injuries, you must use your remaining Beans now, ‘before’ the start of the playoffs. --------------------------------------------------------------- Good luck to everyone (no key injuries!).
