Heh. All is well within, so fear not. Soon, we will have enough interested people, and the first official hell begins...

Lobian, my friend (I hope i can call you that), I can hardly contain the ecstasy that I know I shall experience as a result of your unique efforts in this, one of my favorite TSR (now WoC) Realms.

Don't be so sure there Maly. Ravenloft is one of my favorites as well, but if Lobian is going to run the campaign I'm thinking of, we'll be very sorry we wanted to play. >laughs<

Oh really? I was wondering if perhaps I might bring along my Elven vampire that resides in Ravenloft, he is 300 years old and quite a handful, even for me, heh

If you want the lethality factor to rise considerably, then by all means, bring in the vampire. I promise you, he will not survive the first encounter. Sith (not the Jedi/Star Wars variety) are indeed very nasty foes, and with their command over the undead... well, you would be upset. I would prefer to not have to deal with higher level characters to start, as half the fun of Ravenloft is advancing through the horror.

This game (whatever edition) will begin with new characters, as that is the true test. Meddle not with mettle, for the metal will break your medal. HA! Too many homonyms...

Lobian will fuck you up royally (sp) if you want to play with Higher Level Characters. I know his DMing style, and he loves coming up with some challenging things. I also know that he knows loopholes in the rules and can create some of the nastiest things you've ever seen...they are all legit too.

Ah...then Lobian and I shall get along just fine, as that is my preferred style of play as well. At one point, I believe they called it Min/Maxing in reference to character creation. I could be wrong, though, it does happen on occasion. As I said before, get me some guidelines and I shall get you a character. I must warn you that it has been about 8 years since I was in Ravenloft last. That blasted mist encroaches on every Realm...

Last time I had anything to do with Ravenloft was prior to Azalin's death, so coming in with a new character that knows nothing of the place won't be all that difficult. However, the sooner you post character guidelines, the sooner we can get started.

Well Lobian said that once he knows more about those who wants to play, he'll decide what edition to make it.

I for one, want to play. I'll play any addition. I've been playing 3E for a while, and a change would be nice.

It seems that most of you don't know the 3E rules. If that is the case, then this will probably be 1st, 2nd, or our own variation of 1st and 2nd, called 1.5. I'm thinking 2nd would be better. We'll have to wait for Lobian though.

Personally, I could care less what "Edition" it is...I have none of the Ravenloft sourcebooks anyway, so what good would it do me? I also have no 3rd edition sourcebooks...refer to previous question. All that said, I will basically be coming up with a low level character for a campaign in which he/she/it will probably die anyway in a campaign setting I have not played in in over 8 years...hrmm...what was my point again?

Well, edition does matter as there are major differences in the character creation. Just because you don't have every book doesn't mean you can't play. A PHB would be handy though.

I haven't played in a Ravenloft setting in awhile as well, so don't worry about that.

Your character won't know its in Ravenloft anyways probably.

That makes sense. I think. *blinks* Anyway, I don't have 3E books either, but I'm sure some things can be 'converted' during play with a little thought and imagination.

What would be the first giveaway? The masses of undead? The terrified townspeople? The "always being watched" feeling? I could go on, but I shall stop before I start going overboard...

Well, some things can be converted (Track is now a Wilderness Lore check). Somethings can't. 3E is Skills and Feats and DC (Difficulty Check) where as the others are percentage checks. Completely different systems.

And Maly, think of it this way...

You are born there. You think everything is normal. You are sent on a quest, but are used to the undead and the mists...its everyday life to you.

Never combine Player Knowledge with Character Knowledge.
