Ok, I have played D&D for about 18 years now, but we play a hybrid version of AD&D 1st edition. That being the case, I have next to no familiarity with 2nd or 3rd edition rules, or how to roll up a character. The game forums posted here look interesting but unless there is a 3rd edition for dummies out there I think I will have to shy away from them and stick with the free form until something else comes up. |

The forums so far are set up through Realms, not really through which edition, that's up to the DM/GM to decide when they create the games. If you want to only run in 1st edition games, look for headers that say 1st edition, or create your own. =) Heck, its been quite awhile since I've played 1st, perhaps we'll see a game pop up soon. replied on: 5/19/2003 2:38:49 AM Well, everyone starts off somewhere, and it can feel overwhelming at first, but, once you get into it, it's not so bad. Plus, we'll be nice and not hammer you for not knowing all the rules at once. The easiest thing to learn, if you wanted to play, would be D&D 3E, and play a fighter. They're simple, and you'll learn quick. After you get the basics down, you can go to something more "advanced" like a Rogue or something. The spellcasters tend to be the hardest because they have the most options. |
