replied on: 5/24/2003 9:30:45 AM Rogue. Thieves are called Rogues in 3rd edition. You'll notice they're a shitload more powerful too, though they take a serious hit in their overall skill ability early. If you want the most powerful combinations, just ask... they are pretty much all I make. |

replied on: 5/24/2003 9:39:31 AM Being 1st level, you don't start off with much, except your skills, so, make sure you take the good skills. Bluff is godly. Pick Pocket is godly. If Jeni lets you... Forgery is UNSTOPPABLE! And above all, make sure you max out Use Magic Device. Archery is godly (though that's not a skill, it's a way of attacking) so, something like Point Blank Shot might be a good first feat. I don't know the details of what Jeni is allowing in totally, except that creation limits us to the PHB. After that, well, the true fun begins and I can give more specifics. Especially magic items. Once the game starts going, I can give you pointes, though, you should take the skills you'll use. Search is damn useful. Move Silently and Hide are staples. And, being a Rogue, you'll have the points for them. Appraise is useful as well, being a Rogue and all... If you don't like fighting from a distance, I can give you some pointers there too, but, not yet, since you don't qualify for the feats, and, some aren't from the PHB... so, you're limited for now. |

replied on: 5/24/2003 9:44:16 AM Yes. That is why it is known as "System Reference Document." It contains ALL of the core mechanics from the PHB, DMG, and MM. It is 3 books in one, essentially. Oh yeah, plus it adds the PsiHB, but Jeni isn't letting that in. I asked, and she said "sure," until I made a character she didn't know how to handle because it was too powerful for the setting. |

replied on: 5/24/2003 10:05:08 AM Actually the way you make your Rogue is all depending on how you see him. If you seem him as some Jewel Thief, then go with something like Appraise, Move Silenty, Hide, etc. |

replied on: 5/24/2003 11:34:05 AM 3E Halflings are sort of like Kender, but not quite. However, there are no "rules" for how to play one, and they do have some of the Kender qualities... so, its up to you; though, if you plan on being a kleptomaniac, you'd best avoid the Half-Orc... |
