replied on: 6/19/2003 1:36:51 AM This has NOTHING to do with your character. Welcome to online posting. Your threads will get hijacked and taken to whatever topic is wanted, needed, or completely unrelated. We know the character is original, and that has nothing to do with the way the thread went, nor does anything else that is posted. Read some of the others, and you'll see how it works. No one controls the method of communication, or the direction the topics will go... you can try by posting your ideas, your opinions, and by starting threads, but you have to expect people to just ramble; that is what they do. However, if you want the logical progression, it goes like this: 1) You post your character. The character resembles various real world oriental cultural beliefs and characteristics. It is obviously based on samurai. 2) I comment on the fact the character is oriental in nature and how rarely I see an interesting one. 3) Maly mentions other oriental "characters" he likes, and might be interesting models to base a roleplaying character on. At this point, there is a relational tangent, as the topic has now been shifted to character concept, and the real world, and not "dedicated" to you. 4) I mention some other alternatives which would make some peculiar villains, which are also oriental in design and concept. 5) You ask what this has to do with anything. 6) I explain it. Simple? While there is no "direct" relationship to your chartacter, there IS a definite relationship: we are now discussing how oriental characters, in general, are rarely seen, and they can be very effectively based on the real world, even if yours isn't. That little fact is completely irrelevant, and does not make you any better because of it. Have you ever noticed how a real conversation goes? They rarely, if ever, follow one straight topic until conclusion. There are typically tangents, and correlational discussion, all to solidify the main point. Topics bounce back and forth until no one has anything else to say about it, either because they're sick of it, or they're bored, or they simply cannot make their point in an effective manner. If you want to continue posting, you have to learn that your threads are going to go everywhere. You don't control them. That is what a moderator is for. |
