The vampire is an idiot, and he will allow his pride, no, his lust for self, to swallow him whole. That is its weakness. The only true one. What I am cannot be defined into simplistic terms. Napalm would only serve to anger me. What the flower says is mostly true, as legends are simply that: legends. They hold a parcel of truth, an iota that gives the hunter his edge, but the use is different. They change as mortals change. Opinion is added and fact is lost. Ask God... However, this is not to say that a vampire is "not" these things, for they must certainly be them. They "are" seductive, but it is that seduction that heralds their destruction. Stick around. I've got a job to do...

Some Vampires are simply dreams, others, like Dracula are normal people (Dracula being a literary allegory of Vlad Tepesh (Vlad the Impaler), others are hideous beings. Read up on some Legendary Vampires throughout the years and Countries. Very interesting, indeed.
snflwer98 Forum Mistress	Weakness replied on: 5/27/2003 3:24:59 AM This couldn't be possible at any time frame, as they didn't discover it until later, and wasn't used consistantly until about the 1960s. It depends on the creature and its mythos. If it is a certain type of Vampire, only certain things will kill it. Some Vampires can only be killed by a stake through its heart, so while the fire will injure it to the point of chared body and loss of skin and such, it can still enter a stupor and heal itself over many many years. Some Vampires can only be destroyed by fire, so your idea will certainly kill it. Other Vampires LOVE fire as they regenerate through fire. Now onto escaping fire itself. According to some legends, Vampires can turn gaseous and escape by that means, they can outrun it (White Wolf's Celerity or Temporus). Some can actually control the fire itself. The weaker Vampires won't have all these abilities, so they will most certainly be destroyed by fire. So really it all depends on the style of the vampire and where he comes from. Was he Aztecan, was he Egyptian, was he from White Wolf... many different things to look at before finding a way to kill him. Remember, not everything is killed the same way.
Iuedaini	Weakness replied on: 5/27/2003 2:39:03 AM Oh ya, i just thought, here is a way to dumb this thread down to my lvl. Maly put it that the games do not need to be limited to any time period, so that got me to thinking as i though of dangers for you vamps and self proclaimed beast. I thought that Napalm will burn on and through pretty much anything, and all blood has a boiling point at some point so even if you think you wont burn how about having your blood boil and evaporate right through your skin(yes i know my mind is a bit twisted). So i thought i would have to do this in a present day setting but then go to thinking of the ingredients to make the home made low grade stuff. And then the old big muscle though that i could get most of the stuff in any time. All you need really is one pot of water, some soap(easy to get lard and from that lye(sp)), fire wood, a second pot, and some oil of any sort(the more combustible the better). If you are really worried about it burring good and sticking for the first bit while it sets in you can throw in some low quality cotton, or any similar fabric. And wala you have everything you need to make the sticky burning flaming death in a bottle. Just a rando tangent, would also like to hear you ideal on weather this would kill the aforementioned creatures.
Iuedaini	Weakness replied on: 5/27/2003 2:16:15 AM I would not give you the pleasure maly, i know you would find to much enjoyment in that troubled head of yours, from what should be a serine event. oh and on the seductiveness and all, i think that you need to boil down all this myth and legend and get the refined crystals that are left. While it will not be as much to enjoy it is a much sweeter treat.

Well, it is because they have a sensability, a seductiveness, a kind of aura that covers them. Vampires are just very interesting creatures.

Now that is an interesting way to put it. Do you mean that they die before they get a proper chance to live? If they love death then why would you hunt them? are you not seeking them out to kill them? so much hatred for them, any reasons for this misplaced aggression?

As a matter of fact, most times it takes place in the present, the fun part is building a history for your character, unless you are a fledgling. Fledglings have a whole different set of rules and challenges. For one, some fledglings are hunted by other vampires, but then, so are other vampires. There are many things other than "peasants" to worry about as well, like, oh, werewolves...They HATE vampires if memory serves me right.
