Oh no MG!!!!!! That's just horrible...it has to be someone who knew you kept stuff in there. Another reason why I absolutely refused to keep anything in mine.

I am so sorry this happened, MG! What a drag.
Sometimes I hate people.
So law students have lockers at school?
I did not know that.

That's pretty low. I myself would never leave my laptop in any locker. Not saying it's your fault, that would have just been my decision. Too much personal info gets stored on computers to trust ANYONE or ANYTHING with them. I hope you have changed all your passwords already. They don't have surveillance cameras near the area this happened do they?

I would rather leave it in a locked secure area than lug it around all day when I would
a) lose it
b) break it

The Ironies:

- I don't actually use my locker. It contains one nasty tupperware from lunch 2 months ago, 2 apple sauce snack cups, one juice box and toothbrush/toothpaste.

- no one saw me put stuff in there

- no damage to lock or locker

- I chose to put stuff in there because I had to go to some areas of Saint Crisco where car break-ins are de rigeur.

- I had acutally budgeted for a new laptop, but my plan was to give the old one to my mom.

I have a new refurbished Toshiba on the way from Costco online. It's smaller and lighter than my last machine, yet has a bigger hard drive, a faster chipset, more memory, and some newer features.

Anyhow,

I'll be sporadic for a few days.

hmm. Interesting. The person who had the locker before you?

Went to get something they thought they'd left behind and took it because it was there?

Oh no! You didn't save on to the network drive?

One friend losing her entire HD during 1L was all it took and I backed up on to the network drive every other week till the end of school.

Time to start hitting friends up for notes.

This was the rest of my monday/Tuesday for additional fun. I discovered that:

- My new ATM card was misrouted to my old address. My current ATM card has since expired. No card = no money. Also, no debit card related online bill pay. Fork! A visit to downtown Oakland got me some money, and a new card on the way. But it likely won't arrive this week.
- A replacement Credit Card I didn't know about was not forwarded from my old address.
- Stolen Laptop Blah blah......

- About that replacement Credit Card... the order I placed this morning for a replacement laptop, the one that was a really good deal, that I paid for with my Credit Card.... was declined because the Fraud detection folk didn't match it to my current card. When I called they deactivated that card. They'll send a new one, but it probably won't arrive this week. Kind of like the ATM card.

That sucks MG.

We have a thief on the loose at my work. Security came around to say some guy was wandering into offices stealing purses and computers. So now we keep our office door closed and our purses locked up.

Stealing is so not cool.
