Terrible service, five come at once, kids smoking spliffs upstairs, queues that loop round on themselves, drivers paid terrible money, crawling up Moseley Road. Even the inspectors wait at Bradford St. garage because they got so much abuse from the public. Go back to a timetable to stop empty buses going out of the city at 4.45.

The solution would be to open the rail line (currently cargo only) at KH and Moseley to the public and it would take minutes rather than hours to get home. With the Xmas City Centre gridlocks scheduled for Nov 22nd Dec 8th 13th 18th 19th 20th and 23rd this year, this is a good time to be thinking about alternative routes home. Why not put it to the transport councillors? And see if you get the same response I did...

Do they still include the "White Train" (nuclear waste)amongst the "Cargo"?

It was a while back but I was told it would be impossible to electrify the line quickly and easily because of the many tunnels the route takes. I suggested doing it slowly and expensively "No money to invest in railways" was the snappy rejoinder. "Keep it as a deisel-hauled line," was my pithy retort. A man called Keith something said he would get back to me... maybe he is still looking into it.

Nearly ALL buses are a nightmare

All WM Travel users have my most hearftfelt sympathy. There is nothing more frustrating than waiting and waiting and getting cold, getting to the stop around 3.00 then by the time the thing arrives it's gone past 3.30 and you know you're going to have a row with the bus driver about your off-peak pass, knowing you would have (literally) got into town quicker if you had walked. The no. 12 route springs to mind. I used to wait ages outside that Terratorial Army place on Stoney Lane.

GRRRRRR!!! AAAAGH! Furious stomp!!

You'll never get people to stop making journeys in their cars with a bus service like ours. Wasn't there some headline news last winter about some poor schoolboy who almost froze to death waiting for the bus to school?

Well, until it gets really cold, I think I'll continue on my bike. It's cheaper and healthier. Just wrap up warm and forget the frustrating waiting at the stop and just cycle or walk.

Ah, the 12 and it's handsome cousin the 2. What harsh memories I have waiting either of this mysterious pair to turn up (1995 - 1998, Yardley Wood Rd ...that's a long wait) It would be so packed in the morning - because one or more weren't running - that I'd have to get the bus going out of town first to be able to fit on the one coming the other way. Or 40 min intervals between services and you had someone to meet, long before the invention of the mobile phone. Or the last bus running at 11pm, just as last orders chimed...or more usually leaving 3 mins before so you had to wait on Station St outside the parcel place in the pissing rain for a bus that wasn't going to arrive . Dark days... only the fact that I regularly doctored the dates on my bus pass with white paint and a sharp pencil kept me thinking I was somehow ahead of the game.

I agree - all buses are shit. I don't use em anymore. My last bus experience was a year ago when I waited half an hour in snow for the 28 - only for the driver to drive straight past me and loads of others at the stop. Apparantly this was cos we all looked like school kids and they dick about too much on the buses (some man in a shop near the stop informed me of this - very common practice apparently)

Couldn't even feel flattered that I looked so youthful.. had a tourettes rage then got a taxi.. which was eventually paid for by WM Travel as compensation!

Nah - nowt but trains for me now. They're pretty cack but still a dream compared to buses. Tis almost worth moving to erdington for!

It was near the Red Lion, Erdington.

Aye it took a few months but I got my five pounds (!I know - I should have said it cost more and it was harldly worth bothering for, but it was the principle!)

Hey! That's enough 50 bashing. Actually, it's not. The 50 is ghetto and frequently smells of skag and yard weed. I don't spend 35 quid on nice bottles of 212 so I can turn up to my office job stinking like an ashtray filled with mayfair ends. I have since quit my job in the city and I now work in a... a bloody pub.

Seems I just negated my own point so I'm off to loiter outside my own house and decide whether or not to call the old bill on me.

Why are all buses in birmingham full of minging teenage chavs smoking pot?

i used to use buses in birmingham when i lived there and most of the time they were late or packed full of scumbags.

the only decent bus memories i have are from the 5n night buss after being in the hummingbird.
