| rotunda pants villa, but nice with it Rank: Ozzy | Polish Bus Drivers. posted on: 12/7/2004 7:02:03 AM I heard Travel West Midlands are shipping in loads of Polish bus drivers, because Brummies don't want to. They printed it in the Mail last night, stating that TWM can't keep hold of staff because of a high number of attacks (both physical and verbal)from passengers. It's great way of advertising the job, isn't it? Be a bus driver! Generous pay! Uniform provided! Get your head punched by a fare dodger! Why have they decided on Polish drivers? Is there an EU surplus? Did they think that because 'Walsall' sounds a bit like 'Warsaw' that the Poles will feel at home driving our peasant carriers? |

replied on: 12/7/2004 3:46:22 PM Pete's Travel (the yellow-bus ones) already use mostly Polish drivers on the 404 route, which funnily enough goes to (and, pleasingly, away from) Walsall. |

replied on: 12/8/2004 8:12:46 AM Pete's Travel run some services on my route as well, but their drivers are mostly Asian. They tend to be more reliable than the WMT ones. The worst buses are the ones from, I think, Bharat Travel, that are a little bit bigger than minibuses. Their drivers listen to radios, use mobile phones and smoke, which I have no trouble with normally, but do have problems with when they're tearing around an island in a shitty rusty jalopy. |

I can't give a first-hand opinion on Pete's Travel (I don't get them because my buspass is only valid on TWM), but the general consensus on the local routes seems to be that they're not at all reliable and that the actual vehicles themselves have terribly bad suspension. |
