Paddys Day Parade

New poster, this site is the mutts!

Anyhow, did anybody venture down Digbeth for the parade this year or previous years. To me this is one of the good things about the place and its the 2nd largest in the world and we should be very proud of it.

Reading elsewhere on the site, the bloke from Cov was a bit of an arse and I hope that peaky blinder got the chance to sting him one on the conk. Why do people from Cov and Leicester absolutely hate us? Beats me!

I will keep tabs on this site, its a gooden.

Up the yo-yo's!

What bloke from Cov? I'll take him on. I'll take them all on, on my own.

I went. The parade seemed to be largely unthemed lorries containing drunk Irish people singing or playing music whilst clinging onto scaffolding platforms...(maybe the scaffold was the Irish theme?) Some children had made an effort with trad green frocks &c, while grandad had his head sprayed green for the day. Parade done with, it was back to the Spotted Dog. The Irish lager was off: no-one had thought to order it in for St Ps day (though by all accounts its nothing special anyway). Pubs such as the Fountain, Cleary's, The Other Spotted Dog, Old Wharf, Anchor, Hen & Chickens, The Pint Pot, The Peacock, The Carpenters Arms, Horans, The Queens Arms &c all come alive as they haven't since the 19th century. There's the usual horrible street stalls selling foam things and guinness advert hats, and black smoke belching fun fare rides on Little Chapel Street. Many, many many people in the Anchor, as you'd expect. Funny to spot St P people later in the day in Selfriges, House of Fraser, Mailbox still with the green car paint sprayed onto their faces and hair a la Phoenix Nights

I noticed a lot of French people in the city supporting the snake botherer. With quite a lot of volume and verdure. In and around toilets. Surprising? Go on Peaks, spell out the obvious connection between Clorets (TM) dodgers and the Patron Saint of Ireland.

Then I became embroiled in not being able to get out of town coz of cheerful fuckers everywhere. I am not a supporter of public celebration.

Have you noticed the proliferation of St George's day cards? Profuse, quite profuse.

Apparently, there was a Gay Irish float in the parade, adorned with a banner that said 'We Really Do Love The Craic!'
As it went by, a lot of the elderly spectators suddenly decided to look elsewhere.
