Pebbel Mill at One was an institution in the eighties. Feckless, workshy unemployables (i.e. me) used to refer to it as "breakfast TV", prior to Ann Diamond and Nick Owen coming on the scene. Strangely, we've never heard any more from the scientist searching for surviving Neanderthals in Mongolia. One must assume he found his quarry alive and well and living on Chelmsley Wood.

I remember seeing an old promotional film for Birmingham on which Telly Savalas did the voice-over. It featured a barmy old lady dancing in Cannon Hill Park, I think.

I just saw said film on the main site. Makes me think your response was a tad sarcastic, Mr. Bounds. I thought you were genuinely shocked by my revelation! I saw that film on a Clive James show at least ten years ago (when was Clive last on the telly?[I didn't mean Mr. Savalas]); So for the Beeb to claim it was long-lost is over-egging the pudding (why didn't Telly mention Mr.Egg?). They must mean ITV had it.
Apparently, Kojak/Blofeld thinks Brum is 'his kind of town' because it has dual carriageways!

to be honest i wasn't sure wether you were being sarcastic or not, so i thought i'd play along and play safe.

i'd never heard of it until recentley - but i understand it's been doing the rounds.

we have got some of the nicest dual carridgeways around tho'.

Pretty sure Mr Egg wasn't allowing Kingly eating back in the 80's for a pound. Back then that was probably about 100 quid or something.
