| bounder chairman of the board Rank: Ozzy | Bands named after parts of Brum posted on: 11/22/2005 1:30:32 PM Are there many? From posters I see around the toilet circuit there are at least two; Needless Alley, and Curzon Circle. Any more for any more? Album/song titles too, I can only think of the marvelous lilac time's 'Paradise Circus'. 'Electric Avenue' doesn't count, unless someone can prove that Eddy Grant did write it about the road down by the Villa Leisure Cente. |

replied on: 11/23/2005 7:27:52 AM Eddy Grant is from Birmingham, so he's probably aware of Electric Avenue in Aston. There is also a French rock group called 'Aston Villa', which is probably part of a cultural exchange because we have a group called 'St. Etienne'. Other artists named after areas of Brum: Veruca Saltley; Gary Newtown; Digbeth Orton; Kim Wylde Green; Gypsy Kingstanding. |

replied on: 11/23/2005 10:55:32 AM Rotunda have been gagged? After all these years of supporting Birmingham punk (since the mid-80's) and being vocal supporters of The Ejected (candidates for 'worst album sleeve of all time')? Never right... There is a band called Hall Drive named after a road in Marston Green...very much a 'local' band... |

replied on: 11/25/2005 7:16:31 AM Bentley Rhythm Ace is a cunning one...as it not only references a local(ish) area but is also the name of a (rather rubbish) early drum machine...and the initials spell the word BRA (ho ho ho)... |
