replied on: 12/9/2005 3:50:38 PM Ouch!! Just cos we had a bit of fun with you over the Valerie Singleton's girlfriend thread! I think you might have read a bit more into that one than was intended by us. It's not true anyway, we were all newcomers once and I for one would like to welcome you both on board. |

replied on: 12/9/2005 4:26:06 PM Ooh, lots of things to answer at once. I have no problem with newcomers. Until I get that time machine fixed, I was one once. You're not immune to the pisstaking everyone else on here gives and receives, though. I happen to beleive that it does matter (sic) how people type. Chomsky described English spelling as a close-to-optimal system, flexibly combining phonemic and symbolic elements. We are seeing the atrophy of it before our very eyes. One man's laziness results in his son's conditioning. I give it thirty years till the deluge when no-one can express anything more complex than 'u fukkin twat' in written form. I don't see what is even remotely immature about not being to keen on the thought of that. Having said all that, I genuinely didn't know what 'nvm' meant. (Edited due to spelling errors, amusingly enough) |

replied on: 12/9/2005 10:00:29 PM we are all here for amusement, but remember humour is meant to be funny. being the personal butt of a joke is not nice. besides we are getting off the point. this is meant to be about Chembo. Does anyone know what they are going to build on the old pine square petrol station that they have just pulled down? |

replied on: 12/9/2005 11:26:37 PM Kingshurst Phil, you seem like a nice young man. Are you a bouncer my dear? I had a friend who lived in a high rise on Kingshurst. He was a plane spotter so it was an ideal place to live. I may have mentioned this before on this site, but the thing that always made me smile about Kingshurst was that all the shops in the precinct were all shuttered up or burnt out apart from the Kingshurst Large Reptile Shop which did a thriving business. Come to think of it, you don't see many cats or other small mammals in Kingshurst do you? Or very small children now I think about it further...hmmmmm |

replied on: 12/10/2005 12:31:31 AM quote: Reminds me of the following quote from Nick Land: "On the road from the Guatemalan border to Tapachula I was asked by a Mexican taxi driver what language they spoke in England. The answer, of course, is prehispanicized North American, or dissipator-reprocessed neo-English techno-capital machine-code: the language in which the writings of Deleuze and Guattari now function." Pure genius! BTW, I sent the quote off to Private Eye and got £10 when they published it in pseuds corner. |

replied on: 12/10/2005 7:31:24 AM The main goal of my life is to one day be published in Pseuds Corner. As, I periodicaly suspect, is yours. Remember those men from Monty Python's Flying Circus who wore knotted hankerchiefs on their heads and spoke in extremely oafish/mongy voices? That's the voice I can't help but read text message language in. Lord knows I have tried to stop myself. |

replied on: 12/13/2005 1:34:16 PM im not a bouncer vera. trhe pic was taken at a works do and is the only one i could find to use. Kingshurst busiest shops are the tan shop and greggs. i did however find the car park by the lake the other day and im pretty sure dodgy shennanigans go on around there jusging by the secluded nature of the car park. Anyone ever been the lakeside club in kingshurst? |

replied on: 3/30/2006 11:58:30 AM So I started life in Sheldon (Well after a move from Erdington at age 1), just off the Radleys.(Regular was the Cabin). Married young and settled in Chelmsley and am now living nr Solihull Centre. Chelmsley Wood was a great place for bringing up small kids and the camaraderie between neighbours was tremendous. Great memories of barmy summer nights sat on the wall outside the Greenwood, pint of lager in hand. Its amazing though how many ex Chelmsley residents now living in Central Solihull you would think they were brought up in the royal household. Ask them where they are from and try getting an honest answer!!. I'm sure it pi**es my neighbours off when I wash my old Rover with my Blues kit on!!;-). One of my neighbours actually said to me "Oh its lovely to see some ordinary people move in". Another said "When we moved here in 1950, everyone was of professional status"!. Oh please do accept my apologies, I must be a piece of s**t then??!!. |
