Birmingham =two cities surely?
posted on: 12/22/2005 5:17:41 PM

i think the reason why we have such a poor press is that certain areas drag us down. i'm from Edgbaston, and cringe with horror as some scouser or cockney makes a comment like "birmingham, isn't that full of drug dealing, wheeling dealing, car stealing, sinking feeling, immigrants".

it's nothing like that where i am, and i resent getting grouped with people from North Birmingham.

can't we go the way of Berlin, and just put a big wall down the middle? surely it's an option.....

do you really think that its just some areas of birmingham that drag us down?

drugs are dealt in every area. edgbaston may not be weed city but it sure does hold a nice supply of marching powder for all the posh in crowd suits of the city.

Maybe its jealousy because you feel you should be above the rest of the city. with all your nice high rises down lea bank i am sure you are well above most of the city. but face facts edgbaston isnt posh but likes to think its better than its neighbours.

You could take a stroll down Calthorpe Rd, Carpenter Rd, Arthur Rd, Ampton Rd then Sir Harry's Rd in leafy, Georgian Edgbaston - but don't get caught on CCTV.

It's posh my friend, right up to (but not including) Del Boy's Cabin at the bottom of the Wickett's tower block

What about the prostituion in Birmingham 16? The wasps of B5? The proximity to Smethwick odours of B17?

I do believe some kind of ethnic cleansing would benefit the city, no killing of course, but where do you draw the lines? I'd quite like to eject people who think we all want to be middle class.

maybe thats why our friend enjoys living in edgbaston so much.

maybe thats why there is a speed camera on the corner of gillot road.

Personally if it was up to me, id make these people spend a week or two in a proper neighbourhood where you know your neighbours by name not by the car they drive or how much money they have.

Edgbaston aint all that

Well I looked at a house in Edgbaston, albeit located on the 'wrong' side of the Hagley road and decided that I didn't want to live with crack whores plying their trade directly outside my window.

I am originally from North Birmingham myself. Have to say I haven't seen a single whore there, ever.

Funny, that.

Edgbaston isn't posh! Hahahah, genius... it's about as posh as Lily Savage.

I live in Liverpool now, people go on about Birmingham being rough all the time, as I'm reading in the Echo about the latest shooting down the road... everywhere has nice and not so nice areas. That's how cities work... Mind you, leave Smethwick out of this :P

I live in Toxteth and it's beautiful, yet further down the road in to Toxteth it's really really rough. If you don't know an area it's just stereotypes. Brum's problem is we're not as loud mouthed about how great it is, like Manchester is with it's second rate Wolverhampton of a city....

Hahaha, guess which road I live on :D

I've been reliably informed that Gillott Road is one of the main crackwhore/prostitution roads, gwarn!
