| DrVeraJenkins old dear Rank: Jasper | Brummies Who Deserve A Brick posted on: 7/20/2007 10:29:25 AM Fortunately I missed out on witnessing Ozzy Osbourne recieving his commemorative brick the other week as the restrictions on the senior citizen bus pass meant I had to be out of town by the time this gentleman and his uncouth enterage arrived in Broad Street. But who do you think really deserves a Burmingham brick? No, I'm not talking about the freeloaders and self congratulators, I'm on about the real heroes of Birmingham. Lolipop men, WI ladies, newsagents, window cleaners and others who really put their necks on the line without praise. Who up your yard deserves a brick? |

replied on: 7/20/2007 11:44:34 AM Just a couple of rules on the Dr V Brick Nominations: 1) Exceptional dedication to something mundane and ordinary, scores highly and is likely to recieve a very special bricking 2) Really exceptional commitment to ego-less public service may be worthy of a breeze block or even a slab 3) Service with a smile is not a pre-requisite. People who selflessly serve their community whilst at the same time moaning about it (we've all met them) will be considered for a special damp brick award 4) No self-promotors - we do not welcome people with a tendency to publicly brick themselves |

replied on: 7/20/2007 11:59:45 AM 5) Please avoid being derogatory or libelous about named individuals - or at least not without their vague consent - nomination for a Brick is a positive achievement and is not meant to completely ruin someone's life or personal reputation. You may laugh but when you've been pursued through the courts by a cigarette booth assistant from your local supermarket for the past 4 years just because of harmless comments made in the QuinBearsOwen Bugle, you will appreciate where I'm coming from. |

replied on: 8/9/2007 3:56:38 PM I used to HATE a few particular drivers on the 27 bus route. They would pull up on All Saints Road, Kings Heath a few yards from where we would stand at the bus stop shivering our aureolas off in the winter and sit in their nice warm cab, smoking or reading the paper (getcha mayullllll) until it was time to start up again and get going... I still weep to this day. |
