replied on: 9/20/2003 2:46:56 PM Im sorry but i think you are a really narrowminded git! And what is all this rubbish about Learning about dialect in keystage 1, 2 and 3?? Im doing A-level and im only just beginning to learn about accent diversity and it's origins! So if I were you I would go and get a god damn clue before you carry on shooting your mouth off about other people. And also let me remind you how much industrial effort B'ham and Cov produced for the war efforts. Without our cities we would have probably been defeated by Hitler and God knows who else! |

replied on: 9/21/2003 10:09:11 AM I'd better revise that. Just because you haven't encountered any teaching on dialect does not mean you weren't suppposed to. a)maybe you were wagging it the day they did it. b)teachers miss out lots of what they don't understand, or haven't time to fit in because of little shits who won't sit still, shut up, and allow their comrades to learn. Grrr. c) I can only speak for the National Curriculum 2000's requirements. Is it possible things have changed since you were in ickle school? My argument that because I have taught it in primary school is equally fatuous. I have taught basic Marxism to 7 year olds, which is not in any government document. It is fun to get them thinking though. The National Curriculum is a compulsory framework covering what must be taught by law during what age range. Check it out yourself. It is full of nice pictures from kiddies and quotations from British people who defied the odds and have jobs. And colours. Only £25 from your local Stationery Office. Wow! What a bargain! Or there's the website. Who knows when this learning might come in handy. |

replied on: 9/21/2003 11:01:50 PM You talking to me? Re: "Im doing A-level and im only just beginning to learn about accent diversity and it's origins!" Tut, tut! I hope you cover basic punctuation in your English A Level too. The contracted form of the first person singular in the present simple tense of the verb 'be' has an apostrophe, e.g. I'm, whereas the third person singular for the genitive case does not have an apostrophe, e.g. its. Re: "And also let me remind you how much industrial effort B'ham and Cov produced for the war efforts. Without our cities we would have probably been defeated by Hitler and God knows who else!" Only an idiot would need to be reminded of this fact, and only a bigger idiot would consider it necessary to remind idiots. |

replied on: 9/23/2003 1:51:41 PM Re: "and i have met people of all nationalities who are less willing to copy out of a text book to impress people in an internet forum then you are!" I've written a few linguistics textbooks in my time, so I've no real need to copy out of any of them, thanks. Re: "so every one who doesnt know the ins and outs of grammer is a moron? or am i special." Special needs, more like. Re: "i watch tv but dont really know how the thing works . . . i drive a car but probably couldnt take it appart and put it back together" . . . and you type loads of stuff into your computer, but don't really know what any of it means, do you? Stop wagging it and get back to school, sonny. |

replied on: 9/23/2003 1:52:12 PM Methinks someone has had a nerve touched. The words of someone who dreams of getting close enough to text books to copy out of them, never mind longing for the skills to achieve such a task. We are all special, that is diversity, but some of us, I mean you, are morons. Lovely shiny, special morons. Aah. |

Basically in response to my last post you have resorted to personally attacking me by implying that i am mentally handicapt? clever clogs give yourself an round of applause you should be in parliament with debating skills of that magnitude. (by the way i dont care if there is any bad spelling or bad grammer here in my postings ) ps i'm not dyslexic either im genuinly not very good at spelling n stuff but i have a spell check on my computer so if i choose to use it i can get away with it. |
