replied on: 3/19/2004 11:00:42 PM Thirumalai. Ok this is an all out Masala film. The beginning is a little hard to get through with all Vijays unnecessary mannerisms and Lawrence dance etc. Then the movie get better as Jothika comes. The best thing about this movie is Vijay's dialogue delivery style. His simple attitude and superb and sometimes comic way of saying things were entertaining. Jothika was ok...nothing much to do. Other comedians were also pretty funny...including vivek. Movie was better than I expected. Nice action scenes and super songs by Vidyasagar. I couldn't stand Kiran as item girl in one song. LAst 3 songs were the best picturized. First song was dance from Lawrence. Entertaining movie overall despite cliches. Not as good as Dhool. The winner in this movie is VIJAY. ONLY RECOMMENDED FOR PEOPLE HAVING LOTS OF EXPERIENCE WITH TAMIL MASALA MOVIES. |

replied on: 3/20/2004 2:16:38 AM April Madathil Ok the Macha Machi stuff was defenitely getting on my nerves. Throughout the movie its only "hi da machcha" "hey machi" stuff. Srikant was ok. Sneha, I still don't like her acting. She just smiles too much...without any special reason. But when Maddy smiles or Bhumika smiles I never think that way. This movie was hard to get through. Nothing really happens in this movie. Songs and picturizations were very GOod. I love the poi solla song. It is a winner in the first listen itself. Great music by YUVAN SHANKAR RAJA wasted in a movie like this. VERDICT: Tedious movie. |

replied on: 3/22/2004 12:33:10 AM Sneha is great and her smile is her best part. Would watch any movie just for her. Take a look at 'Parthiban Kanavu' if you haven't seen it yet. So, guess I'll add Thirumalai to my list of movies to watch. Do you watch these movies on VHS or DVD? I will not watch any of these on VHS, since the quality is so bad and have to wait for it to show up on DVD. |

replied on: 3/25/2004 1:23:44 PM Hi! romba busy and this is off the topic being discussed right now but.....www.galatta.com has a link to a star auction for charity. They are auctioning off items from movies and Surya is on the list but nothing of his has appeared so far. Almost all of the bids are ridiculously low and I can't help but think if this was a Hollywood event the items would have bids in the hundreds or thousands of dollars. Take care, all!!!!! Meendum sandhippom! |

replied on: 3/29/2004 8:00:56 AM I love Mohanlal!!!!!!!!!! We rented Iruvar yesterday and watched it last night. It is far from perfect, plus we had the hindrance of insufficient subtitles, once again - and no translated song lyrics. Pyramid needs to do a better job. But Mohanlal is so wonderful. He is definitely one of my favorite actors of all time. Also, Rahman's background score is great! There are some really nice songs, too. Vennial Vay has been a favorite for a long time, though. Prakash Raj was really good, too! I know this is "not a true story" but does anyone know who Prakash Raj's character is suppoed to be or who it is based on? Powerful performance. Nasser was really good too. Last week we rented Vanaprastham, the film where he plays the Kathakali actor, co-starring Suhasini. It was so good! I think my favorite part was after they spent the night together, the scene where she had his makeup all over her face. Mohanlal is just amazing and I want to see more and more of his work. We also re-rented Dhool, wanted to see it again after seeing more Vikram movies. Loved it. And I would like to add that Jothika is really fun in Dhool, too. See? I don't hate her!!! |

replied on: 4/3/2004 11:31:37 AM Ok so Fantam, can you tell me which one of these are good. Majnu (telugu version) Indra (telugu) Valee Ramana I want to see only GOOD movies. Not average movies. I find these average movies very boring. Like YNRAI so far and Eyarkai. I guess I only go for hit films. |

replied on: 4/3/2004 11:33:33 AM And Donnai, Mohanlal is a great actor. He has an innocent charm in his face and a smile that makes you feel good. He is both funny and heroic at the same time. Not at all like a macho hero who looks above an average man. |

replied on: 4/4/2004 4:28:15 AM WOW Fantam. Parthiban Kanavu songs - actually vidyasagar songs, I downloaded some of your reccomendations a long time before. But I never got around listening to the mp3s. Today I listened. AND WOW!!!! What an effect those songs had. I loved the song in which Srikant says stuff in the middle. Also the EYARKAI song you mentioned was also much better in mp3 than raaga. FOR TAMIL MUSIC DOWNLOADs Norway tamil Great site with lots of songs in small sizes and quick downloads. SOngs are in wma format which also can be made into CD. Quality is fine. |

replied on: 4/4/2004 5:00:45 AM Kidilan, Majnu is light-hearted fluff with decent music from Harris Jeyaraj. If you watch the Telugu version, then the dubbing and the lip movements won't coincide. Also I don't know if you follow any Telugu. If little then you will have to rely on sub-titles, whereas with Tamil you may understand a little more. Indra, I have no idea about. I think it is a serious movie. Vaalee is a psychological thriller and Ajit has done well. Simran is in it and there are a few good songs, so it may be fine. Ramana is all action with Vijayakanth. Not my kind of movie, but it was a hit. I don't know if any of these will fall in your GOOD movies list, but you may like Vaalee. I liked Yei!Nee Romba Azhaga Irukkey. Perhaps you didn't like it's small budget production values or that it relies so much more on dialogues. |

replied on: 4/4/2004 5:09:36 AM Glad, that you like those Vidyasagar songs. That was from 'My Raaga' list of Vidyasagar melodies. I am sure the mp3s and CDs sound even better. That song where Srikanth asks questions and gets the song as answers is really nice and poetic if you understand Tamil well. It had a precursor for it's style in an old KamalHaasan movie called 'Sippikkul Muthu'. |
