BollyWHAT mentioned :-)
replied on: 7/31/2003 8:19:14 AM I agree with you completely Meena. We should do a FAQ about the mainstream current hollywood industry - their ideas of "beauty" [anorexic giants, usually blonde and white with some notable exceptions, 50+ year old men having sex with 20 something women]; films so short they obviously are for young children with short attention spans; films that never have any good dance sequences and use un-original music and songs; films that rely on sex and violence to fill in for bad dialougue; films that glorify teenage rebellion and have grown-ups acting like teenagers.... etc. We could do that for any film industry, but it's not a very helpful way of answering frequently asked questions to say the least. Edited to say: by the way I think that the film industry in Kerala is sometimes referred to as "Mollywood" because the language is Malayalam and people from Kerala are usually known as "Malayalees" although you sometimes hear "Keralites" - but this is not too often since "Kerala" as a state only has existed for less than 50 years and was created to bring together the various areas that were predominately Malayalam-speaking. |
