More thoughts

o boy.. many thoughts in my head on this one, and i didn't even read that peice of BW blaspheme yet.. some general ones from people's reactions:
1) all the misguided people out there because of this; dear Lord!
2) it would be great if we send him this thread, but if he didn't do the proper research for Corliss' article, what are the chances of him going through these pages? i'm gonna go out on a limb here and predict that this thread is going to get quite long..
3) my straight white male friend is the one who got me into BW. there are exceptions of course to the 'macho white male' stereotype.
4) as for the length of a BW film.. well, length.. wasn't Titanic like 3 hours long? what about the Godfather movies? Lord of the Rings? the Ten Commandments? Ben Hur? some of the greatest (or just top grossing) American films have been *cough* a tad long. *edit* HARRY POTTER!!! omg, i can't believe i forgot that one...
5) comparing fred astaire's and whoever else he mentioned to BW dancing is comparing apples to oranges. two different styles of dancing, two different styles of music.. even two different styles of movies.. someone posted here that people label BW films as 'musicals', but i agree with that person that they are not musicals, but rather more like 'normal' film with musical interludes. if the dancing seems a little random, that's just how it is.
ok i just got interrupted and lost my train of thought..i think we've had enough of me ranting tho...
thanks to everybody who have been clearing up the article, especially Meena for her extensive and informative posts.
*edit #2* darn! i forgot to add that this morning on FOX 5 Ny's morning program had a story on Indian culture and how it was 'hot' or 'all the rave' or something to that extent.. i really wish i watched it and heard what they had to say, but i had to go to work! did anybody catch it? it probably aired around 7:45am..
