Excuse...but I am very curious as to where you obtained this information from (I couldn't find anyhting from that site). Since I was very small, I have been curious about the family's heritage...and I finally got a little break by learning at a family reunion that our Indian ancestor's surname was Thomas...and one a doctor. This only leads me to the deduction that they were either North Indian Protestant Christian..or something...but I am not even sure to what exaclty it pertains to...I know that Jamaican-Indians were from the North, but many were forced into Christianity...(My family and I are from Jamaica)... Anything to be suggested?

Dixit is a very typical Brahmin name. Sometimes, caste distinction seems to govern surnames even more than region, etc...

other typical brahmin names include Trivedi, Tewary, Agnihotri, Bajpei/Vajpeyee, Sharma, Awasthi, Tripathi

That's what I see here in South Florida. I think ALL Indo-Trinidadian women are beautiful. Forget beautiful, sexy, gorgeous, regardless of how they've treated me. I tell everyone "Trini women are my weakness". And no matter how insecure I feel around them, I love being around them. Also, I've noticed I have a preference of being around Trinidadians and Guyanese more than Jamaicans.

With the bad, there is always some good.

No time...but had to comment on this.

Many Marathi (Maharashtrian) last names end in 'kar' or 'e' (the 'ay' sound) such as:

Urmila Matondkar
Lata Mangeshkar
Sachin Tendulkar
Isha Koppikar
Shilpa Shirodkar

Sonali Bendre
Asha Bhonsle

There are some exception though such as 'Madhuri Dixit', 'Soman' etc.

Khanna is Punjabi, and I'm pretty sure Saigal is North Indian/Punjabi.
