We focus most of our energies on member skill progression emphasizing skills in the Jedi, Trades, and Services professions. Each area has its own member-elected Council with an Officer Representative appointed to the Abyssal High Council. We plan to establish our own fortified city which will allow safety and a social environment dedicated to the exploration of all aspects of the game. Given a setting such as this, one can only expect that there will always be a brother/sister around to discuss any issues that may arise. With already 50+ members in 4 weeks, many people have forseen the dominance we will veil over whatever planet we decide to call home. With such a strong starting member base, we will gain a HUGE knowledge base early on and thus, will have the edge. Reach out with your feelings, you will see this to be true. Your destiny lies with us...it is inevitable. replied on: 12/26/2001 2:27:41 AM LOL@Maddix Too true :p I have come under the gun on the SWG offical forum lately and I wanted to explain some things. There was a posting stating how strange it was for us to have over 50 members with only around 300 page hits. This person also stated something about the KUR being a small PA with over 1000 page hits.....ok, fair enough...here's the explaination: True, I agree in saying that it seems that we have few page hits given the number of members we have. The reason is that we have members who have a lot of friends...and those friends have friends...and so on... Word-of-mouth advertising is the best way to recruit, IMHO. If one person tells their friends that a particular PA is golden...then many won't even bother to see for themselves...they take their friend's word for it. They tend to trust their friend's opinions about stuff like this much more than any advertising. Here's an example: On the SWG site, you will notice a couple of people (who will remain nameless) who post often...criticizing and insulting people for the sheer fun of it. Unfortunately, those people represent their PA...and thus, gives them a bad name. Now, personally...I wouldn't join a PA like that if you paid me...nor would I give any kind of positive feedback to my friends about it. Not that I would have to badmouth them...my friends aren't stupid. :p On the other hand, if I were to tell them that I had joined a PA that absolutely ROCKED...they wouldn't hesitate for a minute because they trust my judgement and they would want to be in the same PA I was in. Another reason for our fast recruitment is because of our government structure. We have actually brought in 3 smaller PAs that have seen the benefits of joining us. I would have to say that they were not going to make it on their own...this way, they could be part of a powerful PA and still have the opportunity to be in a leadership postition with a lot of responsibility. All our Officers are member-elected...so it just makes sense that the more friends they bring in, the more assured votes they will have. (There's an AKE recruitment secret freebie to the aspiring PAs---LOL..you won't get any more :p) Many of the incorporated PA leaders really just didn't have the experience or the drive it takes to found and run a really sucessful PA....I commend them for seeing this right away and making a better decision for themselves and their members by joining the AKE. It really does take a good leader to make a decision like that...those leaders will undoubtedly make excellent officers. I will say this....if there are any PAs here that are interested in joining the AKE, I won't turn you away...but, please...check out our site first and make an educated decision. I would be glad to talk to you and answer any questions I can. As far as the page hits go....I first published the site on November 17th, 2001...and my hit counter was set to 0. I didn't start it at 500 or more like so many sites do. I didn't want to exaggerate the "popularity" of my site. I try to be honest at all times in all areas...even if it means that I have to say something that may offend someone or cause skeptisizm...like the post about my site not having a lot of hits. As far as the KUR having over 1000...great for you! But honestly, I could go into the script and set my counter to 1000 right now...page hits don't mean anything...take it with a grain of salt. Besides...the first 25 or so members have come directly from a guild I ran on EQ (loyalty is king). The point is...and always has been about the number of applications we've gotten, not necessarily how it came to be, but the fact that they are there. I know we won't retain all 50 of them until release day and many of them won't even make it to play the game at all. However, I do think that we have a much better chance of retaining more than other PAs...because most of our members have been recruited through word-of-mouth and I like to think that my open-door policy has been working well so far. To those who are skeptical: FINE BY ME...just don't get in our way. To everyone: Think before you post...there are usually reasons why things appear the way they do. replied on: 1/11/2002 4:33:43 PM Here's a little update on the AKE: Things are going super strong. I'm exceptionally pleased with the way everything has been comming together. I recently conducted our first guildwipe...getting rid of those who were more or less "dead weight". Our member's forums have been pretty active. We now have a public board for guests to post questions and comments. We also have a fully functional Conference Room....it's a Java-based IRC chat that allows us to communicate in real time. As you can see....we've been really busy over there getting ourselves set up. We are still accepting applications from our members to run for office. Oh..heh..if you didn't know: All of our officers are elected by the members. You should go check out our structure. I think you'd be impressed. Special thanks out to BLADE for all your support. You da man! Check back for updates! Farewell, Lord Kylphor Shadowsbane, ALS Abyssal Knight Empire |
