Short intro: avid SW fan. Heavy knowledge of the EU. Fed up console gamer. Breaking into pc's. I have lost confidence in SW devs with few exceptions. The devs for TPM didn't add force powers to the game because they lost sight of the details. The said we don't see the good guys force choking. We see Luke do it in ROFTJ. In the ESB book Yoda uses force lightning(though he is blue in the book). The devs also need to cater to the core SW audience(theories on that later). This thing is gonna be huge anyway. Why the need to add Zabrack now. I want to fight with a hardcore fan over my copy. Not someone who wants to play as Maul. Add stuff that'll sell more copies later.

Try not to look at some of the games LA has released on the PC recently (Battle for Naboo is HORRIBLE), and keep in mind that the Verant folks on the project are some of the most highly respected and talented in the online gaming industry. Time will tell on the game of course, but I think they've got a very good shot at creating something amazing that we've never experienced before. Blade

They had people going on (who didn't seem to clue in on the April Fool's joke) about how the gungans as a choice was a crass move to comercializm then the next day praising the Dev for the choice of Zabrak. My thoughts: What's the diff? Darth Maul had about as much reaction from the fans as Jar Jar did (though the opinions were at opposite ends of the spectrum). I began to have the same thought that many were coming to "Great, a perfect chance for l33t d00ds to all become Darth Maul wannabees. Woopee." Then I got to thinking after much deliberation, "Hey, these guys are here to make money. Ralph and Haden and Kevin all have to pay the bills just like the rest of us. If allowing players to play a Zabrak keeps one more subscriber on board, then so be it." Of course we're going to get our rash of Zabraks runnin' around. Some even making a nuisance of themselves. But if any of you have played any online games you know that eventualy it will die down. Patience is a virtue . . . and the ignore function is it's catalyst. That was just my two credits. Cat

You all fear what is actually going to happen. After all species where shown I looked them and started to say what each type of player will choose. Like Blade I see as a Bothan or Human. Fits his personality. He likes going against the grain with dome tradition behind it As for other players like PKs...well with the play consent only system they are instituting there wont be any. PvP only player I see as the Trans or Zabraks. Both look very war like. Jedi will go more of the Twi'lek, Human, & Bothan route. Pilots will be Human & Wookiee. Politicians I see as Mon Calimari and Humans. Bounty Hunters and guns for hire type of people I see most anything goes here like the Rodian. However, this is all just my hypothesis. I think the great appealing thing about it all is that you can play a Wookie Dark Jedi OR a Zabrak ship merchant. It doesn't matter! So saying that all dOOds are going to play Zabrak is kinda prejudice on my part. You are right though, it is just what us "hard core" RPers are fearing, but we won't know till the game comes out so till then we can only speculate. Speaking of hard core... Jasth, I think they will add little things in the game that will cater to the hard core SW fan, but just like Lucasfilms they're going to aim for the casual fan (ie General Audience). Just like in the movies they want to reach as much of a demograph as possible, they can't do that if everything is by the book and by the letter. The game would end up too constrictive and leave little in the way of depth. That's just the way I think of it. It's Cat, by the way (note the new name). P.S. Sure! I'll play Twi'lek with ya! We can have philosophical discussions with our head-tails.

No hard feelings Twi'lek head-tail philosophy? Hmm that would be different. That does remind me how interesting SWG will be with all of the other languages. I wonder if they will sound weird to us or just look like gibberish on the screen--most likely the ladder. This leads me to a concern of mine. I prefer how UO handled the communication of player and NPCs by having the words appear over their head. I hear in EQ all talking is done like a chat room scrolling up the side of your playing screen. That would suck. However, this will be a 3D game so they may just do it how EQ did. It will be disappointing Keaggan, Rogue Jedi Knight PS Man…Cat was such an easy name t remember too
