As a launch promo they offer FREE auction postings, and lower rates than anything offered by current online sales sites. Another neat feature is the use of a BARTER credit line which will appeal to people that dont like the outright selling of items. This credit line allows the buying and selling and TRADING of items without the actual transfer of hard cash. This is by far the COOLEST feature I have ever seen (one I'll be taking huge advantage of). As far as the contests go, they are giving away thousands of dollars in prizes both randomly and the highest auction listers. Why am I posting this ? I've taken advantage of their afiliate offer which is also free to anyone that wants to partner with them to market the site. You get paid to promote the service and receive cash for everyone that signs up and uses playerbarter. To go to the site please click on the following link so that i get credit for referring you: www.playerbarter.com/index1.cfm?refx723=737701391 Hope this helps everyone, use the service, it rocks ! |

replied on: 5/17/2003 9:13:11 PM While I understand that the people that put PlayerBarter.com together worked very on it and I sure it will be used by many people. However, in my opinion selling items online only hurts the MMORPG in the long run. I also hope that SWG will not allow it to happen. |

replied on: 5/19/2003 2:48:35 AM IMHO every non-online aspect of an online game hurts it, not just the selling of items! Earth & Beyond's dev team had the brilliant idea of having people be able to refer to someone when they bought the game and started playing. The benefits of the referral is xp and in-game money. Now all I ever hear on the public channels is "Want 2 Buy ref from n00b for 2 mil". That's not to say that the economic model wasn't already destroyed and the player-base abandoned by bugs and lack of mission/story content respectively, but it sure didn't help things. If there was a way to cut off the offline factors that effect online games, such as people having enough IRL $$$ to buy multiple copies and thus have multiple accounts for muling or whathaveyou, then online games would be much more fun for everyone. |
