How do I link my message board?
posted on: 3/23/2004 3:53:41 PM

To link your message board to your website is easy. When you begin to make your message board in the first box "Home page name" type in the name of your Web Page, then in the next box put the complete URL to your Web Site (remember to put the http://). It's that easy!

Also, some people want a link on their webpage that takes a person to their message board.

This can be done in a few ways depending on how you make your webpages. I will explain just a few easy common ways of doing it.

Most if not all Web Servers have a webpage builder within their system. I will use Geo's for this example since Geo's is one of the more popular web servers to use.

If using the Web Builder:
Once the builder has been started and you got things the way you want them, you can use a picture, button or plain text, linking back to your message board.

If you use a picture or button:
1. First choose the button or picture you want to use and then add it to the web page. Once you have the picture or button where you want it to be, you then link it.

You do this by making sure you have the pic/button your linking selected, then goto your webpage builder tool bar and click on the link button, next a box will pop up. There will be a drop down window that says, web page, my pages, ect. Choose webpage then type the URL to your message board. Then click OK, make sure to save your webpage and your done.

2. Now if you want to use text it's pretty much the same thing except you click on the add text, place the text box where you want the link to be, then type in what you want the link to read (i.e my message board). Once that is done just click on the link button and link it the same way you would the button or picture.

OK now I don't know about you but I do things old school -lol- yep I type my HTML out myself but that's awhole different ball game so I'll save that for the next help thread.
