| Blow by Blow ("Modify Profile" help file)

After you have registered for the boards and have signed in you may want to modify your profile. To do this simply click on my "Control Panel" then click on "Modify Profile". Ok from here you will see areas to place text and various drop down windows.
I will list each area and what it is used for.
-REQUIRED- (This area must be complete to make any changes to your profile.)
- User Name: This is where you put the name you wish to use for the boards. It can be a nick name or your real name, the choice is yours. (Note that it says no spaces... so don't ask me how I got the space in mine -lol- Its a mystery to me).
- Password: Place your password here. (Every time you change something in your profile you will have to type in the password you gave when you registered for the ChatArea Board).
- Retype Password: Place your password here once more. (This is a comfirmation of your password. It must match the password you placed above. If not the board will ask you to retype them both again when you try to save the changes).
- Email: Your email goes here. (It should already be typed in from registering on the board.)
- Allow Others to Email Me: Just check or uncheck (If you want others members to see and be able to email you, just click on the lil box for "Yes" or leave unchecked for no).
-OPTIONAL- (This area is optional, meaning your not required to do anything here if you don't want to).
- First Name: Here you place your real name. (This should already be filled in from when you registered for the board)
- Private: Just check or uncheck. (You may not want other people viewing your profile to know your real name. Click in the box to keep it invisible to others).
- Last Name: Place your last name here. (This should already be filled in from when you registered for the board)
- Private: Just check or uncheck. (Just like with your first name you can make you last name invisible to others viewing your profile).
- Newsletter: Click on which format you want. (This gives you the option of what format you wish to view the newsletter).
- Country: Click on the drop down and scroll through the list, then click on your country. (This is a drop down window for selecting the country you live in.)
- Homepage: Place your homepage address or a favorite web page you would like other to see in this area. (Make sure it's the complete address i.e. http://www.ect.com).
- Default View: Click on the drop down and select your choice of how you would like to view boards. (There is only two ways to view, threaded and unthreaded, although I can't see a difference between the two).
- ICQ #: Place Your ICQ number here. ( If you have ICQ as a messenger and wish others to contact you using ICQ. By placing it here makes it visible for other to see and use).
- AOL IM: Place your AOL messenger number here. ( Same concept as the ICQ number applies here).
- MSN Messenger: Your MSN goes here. (Samething as the last two, just use your MSN instead)
- Yahoo Messenger: Place your Yahoo messenger her. (Once again, if you want others to contact you using your yahoo messenger then place it here).
- Signature: Place what you want for a signature here. (By filling in this area you can have an automatic signature place at the end of all your posts on the boards. Using HTML to make it colorful and to place a picture in your signature like mine, will make your signature unique and special).
- View Other Members Signatures: Click to check or uncheck (Here you can choose if you wish to see others signatures when you are viewing any message board. To see other signatures just click to check yes, if not then click to uncheck for no.)
- Show last 5 posts: Click to check or uncheck (When someone views your profile, it also shows the most recent 5 posts you have made. If you want others to know and see what they are just click to check for yes or click to uncheck so the posts don't show).
- Invisible (Elite Member Option): An "Elite Member" has an option of being invisible to others on the board they are viewing. (As I have stated before, registering on the ChatArea Boards is free but if you contribute and support the boards you become an "Elite Member" giving you more options that a "Non-Elite Member" has).
-TERMS OF USE-
- On the bottom of the page is the terms of use. Read over the terms and conditions. When your done click the box to agree with those terms.
Now all you have to do is click on the "Save Changes" and your done. |
