If I haven't received a reply to a post, can I delete it?

If your the owner of the post then yes you should be able to.

If it's a reply to a post you should see "Del" under your name next to "Edit". But if you started the post then you won't find the "Del" link there because you need to delete the whole thread. So look at the top of the page and you should see a "Delete Thread".

You will have to be logged in before you see either of these links. This means you will have to have cookies turned on. A cookie is a piece of information that we use to keep track of you, which helps us keep track of the rights you have to do things on the site.

Dann,
I've seen that advice given to others:
Click on "Del" next to your post.

I have never seen a "Del" option, only
"Profile|Reply|Edit". I thought that it
may be there after I click on Edit - but
no "Del" there either.

I am a member and I am logged in at the time.

Someone mentioned "cookies". Sorry, but what
are they? Do they have anything to do with
my problem? Can you explain "cookies" in
very simple terms?

Thanks, Sorobon (Bob)

hehe...sure no problem (ill take this one lawizard).

A cookie (no not the one you eat) is a file that web pages send to your Temporary internet folder along with everything else that you download when downloading web pages (graphic files and anything else you may need to download a website). What cookies does mainly is keep track of your visits to the website and what you did there so that the next time you visit that site, the cookie on your computer is sent back to the sites server so it remembers you. The cookie file usually contain information that you entered on the website and what you looked at there. Ever knowtice that you dont always have to log back into this site every time? Thats the beauty of the cookie. It has your user name and password right in the cookie so you dont have to enter it every time. Thats the basics of the cookie. I guess it can do other things...but i dont know what else.
