| privledge levels posted on: 5/12/2003 4:09:46 AM Im not sure if this is part of "admin levels" or not, but i thought that i would suggest it anyways. Right now theres an option for only giving mods posting privledges for certain forums. However, theres a bad side to this, mods will be able to edit and delete posts in that section. So i was thinking, on the members list, being able to grant certain members posting privledges for certain forums. Its basicly like a mod only forum, but you select the members that are allowed to post there, adn they cannot edit/delete posts.
The reason i want this is to make a forum thats sort of like a password protected forum (only allowing certain people to post). But having it viewable to standard members. I dunno, if you give the option of moving the password gateway to when you select "post reply" or "post new topic" it will be just as good. |

you could maybe make a new type of forum setting like when your custimizing thats like a check box or drop down menu etc, that says "view only forum" or something, then after you finish there would be a link (like the link that takes you to the ban page) but these check boxs would be who can post
kinda like reverse it so that this type everyone is banned by default, even new people that sign up.
OR you could put another section in the members part, (like where ban and user rights is) and have all of the "view only"forums listed, and you chech which ones they can post on. i think thats a better idea

Isn't the password protected Forum a place for members to post messages you don't want standard members to see and read ?
