PTOC Inc East announces the inclusion of the Chrysler 300, SRT8 and SRT8-Jeep, 2000 and newer models will be included in what was previously an all PT Cruiser car show circuit.

I find it hard to believe one of the National PT Organizations will allow non PT Vehicles to be shown and or compete at what are considered "National PT Events".
I do believe a moment of silence is in order....

Tinker, what show are they going to do this at or is it at all PTOC shows? How can a PT compete with a Charger SRT?

OK, Joe sent me the press release, looks like all the big shoes will now be open. Many of our shows have always been mixed and we have always got along with the other cars, we'll have to see how the PTOC will handle their new format.

Many GSC shows have been mixed because we tag onto existing shows. Shore Thing is the one show the we actually put on and it's a PT Show and hopefully it stays that way. If I want to start attending open shows there are more than enough of those already available. Now even I am not against smaller shows being open, I like the idea of PTs and Prowlers or even a mixed retro remake show (PTs,HHRs,Prowlers or even Bugs),. But To take what were considered national "PT" shows and make them open, I find that disappointing.

Well that kinda stinks. I've always looked forward to the Wildwood show not only to see my other PT friends, but because it was unique seeing all those PTs lined up on the boardwalk. But now it won't be just PTs. They're going to see a serious drop in attendance from PTs I think - at all their shows. Can't be called PTOC anymore either - it's a fair assumption to assume this is financially motivated. Maybe Chrysler is giving PTOC an incentive.

I agree with both of you! I think they have already seen a drop at their shows, that's why they are bastardizing their format. They cancelled Carlisle because of numbers. I am sure it is a business decision for them. Do you think they saw our Smithville PT Cruiser-Prowler Show for 2007 and jumped on the bandwagon? Nah, it would have to be a coincidence

What makes some of the shows "national" and some "local"? If it is the fact that more than one state attends, then all the shows would be "national" since we always see other state's cars at every event!

We would never think of mixing models with Shore Thing.

Instead of seeing why their shows drop in attendance they are inviting others so they can make more money You are right John on that one. Or maybe some of the directors that club bought SRT's and need a few trophys I thought this might be comming wqhen Cruiser Quarterly started featuring 300's They see the end of the CRuisr production as something threatening them and are trying to keep their lil fifedoms in order . For me I don't do their shows and everyone including them knows why. Have a good time PTOC and good riddance

I go to the shoes (ED Sulivan) just to see my PT friends, and how they dolled up the cars. Some of these guys are very inventive and create unusual cars. Their identities travel with them to each show, Pirate Jim, Casper, Mr. Lou to name a few. Boy could we get a good forum going after the Saint Patty' Day parade......ONLY A PT THING..

I'm a little suspicious of why only 300Cs and Jeeps are allowed??? I've been thinking what photomanpt was mentioning, about some of the execs in PTOC buying those cars and wanting more trophies. Now I'm definitely glad I dropped out of PTOC and WildThang... it was going downhill for years, and the spiral seems to be getting tighter.

There was never a vote on this decision, a debate, nothing. Just an announcement one day. I don't think that's right, especially for a dues-payment club.

Bill my comment was not aimed at you. I totally agree with you. The other day I posted my view on another page and got in a online disagreement.

same here. i posted in another forum how i thought the format was opened to give judges more trophies to win. the guy basically said that they have curbed that problem at the wildwood show and that only 2 judges won trophies last year when i responded that was 2 too many i was berated and belittled in a few personal messages, saying that I've never been to their shows so i cannot comment on how they run.Why would i go if all i hear is bad things about the way things are run? I've never gone to a show for the sake of winning a trophy. Hell the only trophy i won was 2 years ago and i didn't even really wash the car that well! I go to have a great time and look at other cars. so there is the reason for my earlier comment. You guys have helped me more ways than i can remember and i'll always be greatful for that. This club is run with Class, and i am proud to be a member of it.

Judges should be eliminated from recieving any trophies for the show as should all volunteers who help run the event. That is a fast rule that we abide by (GSC). This eliminates any controversy over who got what. It is only a matter of ones opinion that seperates one car from another. So you can always fault the opinion. If the people running the show feel they should be entitled to something you can give out an award for recognition of their services or announce their names in great appreciation for time donated etc....The other option is an attendence plaque or award of somekind to each person who goes to the event, without the attendees we would not have any SHOES (Ed Sullivan)....
