Thanks everybody, I'll make sure Linda sees this thread.

She came home Friday afternoon. The main reason they released her is because her back was hurting so much from the hospital bed - and she's never had back problems before. A nurse will be visiting a couple times a week for the next couple weeks to help with the dressings and make sure everything is healing properly.

She has a follow-up with the plastic surgeon on Monday. Thursday is the follow-up with the primary surgeon, and we'll get the results of the lymph node biopsy.

Had a follow-up with the surgeon today and got the results of the lymph node biopsy - they tested negative! This was a huge relief.

Linda will still be out of work for at least another 3-5 weeks, but she's feeling a little better every day.

setback...
replied on: 10/11/2007 5:50:21 PM

We were hoping Linda could start the chemo treatments tomorrow - the sooner it starts, the sooner it's over - but her most recent blood test showed 2 liver enzymes increased significantly.

So the chemo is put off for now; she goes for an ultrasound Friday and liver biopsy on Monday.

Thanks Barbara. The biopsy went fine, no problems. Linda is a little uncomfortable, but nothing serious. The liver doc didn't see anything to be overly concerned about. She still thinks it's the liver just reacting to whatever drug it was it didn't like.

So mostly good news for now. The liver doc will consult with the oncologist regarding the chemo, but most likely they'll go ahead with it and just monitor her liver enzymes more closely than would be normal. If there's any sign things are getting worse, the chemo will stop.

First chemo treatment
replied on: 11/7/2007 5:18:53 AM

Linda finally had her first chemo treatment last Friday. No problems over the weekend at all. She had a follow-up on Monday to get a shot to boost white blood cell production. This caused her bones to ache a bit, and she was a little more tired yesterday. Next treatment is the day after Thanksgiving, then 2 more spaced 3 weeks apart.
