Cruisin Against MS Walk/Club Challenge 2008
posted on: 11/6/2007 1:30:29 PM

This years team Page is now online:Cruisin Against MS Team Page

This year we will be looking for additional team members as well as sponsors. Returning Team Members must sign up for the event, you are not automatically enrolled if you walked on the team last year. Your login/passwords from last year should still work though. This year you can join the team as a participant or volunteer so there is no need to worry about joining the team if you are unable to walk.
The link to join the team can be found at the bottom of the page in the Team Roster List or you can click the following link:
Join Team Cruisin Against MS

For those interested in just offering a pledge/sponsorship you can go to the team page and click on any name in the team roster you wish to support or click the Support Cruisin Against MS button above the progress meter.

To help Jacki and Team Cruisin Against MS with our fundraising efforts to help find a cure for Multiple Sclerosis we have again initiated the following for 2008:

"2nd Annual Cruisin Against MS Club Challenge"

The Lone Wolf Outlaw Cruiser will present the club raising the most donations for the cause a Commemorative Plaque displaying their achievement. (Plaque donated by Jim Thistlewood and the LWOC) This award will be presented at the 2nd Annual "PTs Take Fight".

Remember it's not about the "Prize" is about finding a cure....

Details and participation info can be found here: Cruisin Against MS Club Challenge

Cruisin Against MS Walk/Club Challenge 2008 Update

Message from Jacki:

Hello Everyone-

Wanted to get out an update as to how we are doing. Well, I am very happy to announce we are very close (79%) to our Team Goal of $3500!
As of today,Thursday 3/27/08 at 7:00pm, we are at $2773.00!!!!
(FYI- last year on 4/15/07 we were at $2850- we are on track to beat last year at this point)!

Last year we raised $4500. With everyone's help we can surpass the last two years totals and this years goal! Right now we are the Top Team at our Walk Site ( $500 above the next team)
We have less walkers (16) signed up but are doing great with fundraising. Anyone that will be coming to the event should sign up as soon as possible! I want to make sure names get added to the banner and how many walkers and volunteers we have. As well as T-Shirts etc.

Remember its now how far you walk or if you walk- its the support for the team and everyone out there with this disease

I want to thank everyone who has joined the team and raised funds and/or just donated to the team. Every dollar helps us get closer to a cure for MS. We have just over two weeks left until the walk, but remember donations can be collected up to May 27th, 2008.

We want to thank all the PT Clubs that have gotten involved in the "Club Challenge"!! There are eight (8) clubs involved and by doing so, it has helped us raise awareness and donations for this cause, even as far as Australia- our PT's Down Under group has joined us as well.

For those of you that will be joining us at the walk site, there is some information listed below.

We will all meet at the Seagulls Nest parking lot (Area D), which is the lot just before where the event is happening. We are looking to meet between 8:00-8:30 to get situated and all arrive around the same time. We will all go to Area E together for the walk. Since we have a team of more than ten people, they will come to us for registration. Please just have all your pledge information, walker registration card "2 part form" and money together so we can give it to them that morning.

There is supposed to be a contest for the Banner. John has graciously offered to update the banner with the additional team member names again this year. This has our Team "Cruisin Against MS" logo on it. We know the banner was done well, as when we met with the Coordinator's at the mid-jersey chapter, they knew of the team and remembered our banner from the last couple of years. There will be a Team Picture taken at Registration, so everyone have your shirts on at that time.

I know we have some Team Members that will be volunteering and not walking. These volunteers will get an area to work at the day of the event. This could range from helping to set up, to handing out water along the walk, the snack/rest areas or the end with the final meeting place and lunch, and as John and Nipper did last year, gave a ride to those that needed a lift back to the start area.

There will be breakfast before the walk which consists of doughnuts or bagels and coffee. There are rest stops along the way with snacks such as bananas, oranges, power bars, cookies, water, juice etc. And at the end of the walk a lunch is provided (probably a spot for the volunteers) which usually is pizza or subs. Feel free to bring anything you may want along the way as well. You just may have to carry it with you.

I appreceiate everyone coming out and supporting us for this cause. It should be alot of fun. Reminder- the walk happens rain or shine, and we are all hoping for weather that we had last year!

For those that have any questions about the walk, donations, or getting to the site, please give Gabe a call on his cell phone
(732-423-4989).

We look forward to seeing everyone there!!!

Love,

Jacki, Gabe and Ben Lakatos

Message From Jacki - 04/11/08

Hey Everybody,

Well, time is going fast and the MS Walk is almost here! I am so happy that we are going to have ok weather this year. The weather forecast is for clouds and cool (50's) with showers in the afternoon.
Again, the walk is rain or shine so be prepared.

I want to once again say THANK YOU to everyone on the team that has gone out and gotten donations and put the information out about the Walk and spreading our message. Very fitting with the new slogan for the MS Society of "Join the Movement".

Right now, we have a total of $3,173 dollars raised for the team! I know there is money still coming in and and one group has hit the $1000 mark (Lone Wolf Outlaw Cruisers).

I believe with the time we have left ( 7 weeks to raise funds ) we will hit our goal this year! As of now, we are still the #1 Team at our walk site for donations.

Since this is the 20th Anniversary of the MS Walk, they want to make it a party! Looking for groups to come have fun and wear Orange, incorporate the number 20 into the shirts etc and wear party hats or bring horns etc. I know Ben was thinking of orange hair this year

I cannot Thank Everyone enough for coming out and supporting our family and the many people suffering with this disease every day. This means more than I can ever convey in an email. I hope everyone knows I Love You All and that all the support and a positive attitude is what really helps me get through every day.

I am so looking forward to seeing everyone and letting everyone know how much this all means to me ( and my family ).

Thank You Again,

Love,
Jacki

This weekend at the Route 66 PT Club’s Cruisin With A Heart event we had announced the winner of this year’s Cruisin Against MS Club Challenge. Congratulations to the Lone Wolf Outlaw Cruisers for an outstanding effort raising a total of $1309! Jacki presented this year’s plaque to Jim Thistlewood director of the LWOC during the event’s Awards Ceremony.

We’d also like to thank the rest of the clubs that got involved in this year’s Cruisin Against MS Club Challenge:

PT Cruisers Down Under - QLD Chapter, The New Jersey Cruisers, Long Island Cruisers, Garden State Crew-zers , Pocono Mountain Cruisers, Dream Cruisers PT Club and the Route 66 PT Club who also allowed us to present this award at their event. Your support over the last three years has allowed us to raise a total of $11,000 to help find a cure for Multiple Sclerosis.

On behalf of Jacki, Ben, myself and the PT Cruiser Alliance... Thank You all for your support and participation. We hope to see you all back for the 3rd Annual Cruisin Against MS Club Challenge.
