Woodbridge Parade Dinner Cancelled Posted at 12/01/2007 11:47am The forecast in the Woodbridge area for the morning is not so good, but I am actually more worried about after the parade, which looks like snow and freezing rain. I really don't want to take the chance of someone getting in an accident on the way home, especially since many people (inlcuding me) come from a distance away. So I had to make a tough call... but I decided to cancel the dinner...sorry! The caterer was great about being cancelled as long as I called by noon today...thanks Eddie...so we don't have to lay that money out. In all honesty, we had a few people that didn't pay up front and under normal circumstances that would have been ok, but if we didn't cancel the dinner and some of those people did not show up, I would have been on the hook for those dinners. The hall cannot be cancelled, so that $200 will be taken out of club funds...we won some money from the Halloween parade (that we didn't get yet) and had a few bucks in the kitty, so if think we can cover that, so Gabe is not out any money (thanks Gabe). If the parade goes off tomorrow (2nd), we will try to find somewhere nearby to eat after, if people want to. It may work out that the weather clears and maybe we can grab pizzas or something for the hall. But based on the emails I have gotten, I think many folks are going to skip the parade based on forecasts. For those who paid for dinner...I will give you your money back at the parade tomorrow (if you and I are there) or if it's cancelled, on the rain date. If that does not work out, or you would rather get the money back right away, just drop me an email and I will send out a check. In any event, I will send out the refund checks after the 9th. Sorry about the cancellation of dinner...but with the iffy forecast...I figured it was better to know peeople made it through the holidays in good health than have a PT repair bill as a present because of the parade.
