Most of our members are active on many of the PT Forums and have been emailing us asking about the demise of the PT Cruiser Owners Club (also known as the PTOC) from California and how that might affect our club. The Garden State Crew-zers is not now and has never been affiliated with that national organization. Our affiliate has always been the "PT Cruiser Club" Washington State.

We only affiliate with a national organization to get our event insurance at a group rate. While most of our events are covered for free, we were always paying a premium for our Shore Thing events.

The directors had decided last season to sever relations with any national organizations and procure our own club insurance. We enjoyed a great relationship with our national organization as they never bothered us or imposed any rules or restrictions on our club.

We have occasionally had problems getting our insurance certificates from them in a timely manner to give to our townships where we held events and that potentially has jeopardized our holding these events. This is our sole reason for going independent.

All that means is that we will be paying for event insurance for all our events ourselves, there are no changes being made to the club's structure. We have enough money to pay for the insurance for 2008 and will hold small fund raisers (50-50s) at our events to hopefully cover it in the future. At this time, we anticipate keeping the club a dues free organization.

The Garden State Crew-zers has established itself as New Jersey's largest and most active PT Cruiser Club. We hold more types of events than any other New Jersey PT Cruiser club, national or independent, and probably more than any branded car club in New Jersey. Actually, I do not know of any PT Cruiser Club on the East Coast that holds as many events as we do?

Our founding philosophy has been to host a large variety of events throughout the state to give our members the best selection of events to attend. It has never been to hold the "biggest event". I never count cars at events to see how many attend, we just hope that everyone that attends has a good time as that is our measure of a good event. Some members ask me "How many cars did we have today" and I usually don't even know.

Just because they may stop producing the PT Cruiser does not mean that our members are suddenly going to sell all their PTs and stop attending our events. There are more than 1.5 million PT Cruisers on the road today! As long as you all come out to our events, we will continue to offer them.

As always, feel free to email us or call with any questions or suggestions.

GSC, always has a good turnout for events. I think it's because of the people. The first event I ever attended, you folks were very friendly and warm!

That was BEFORE you mentioned RAIN or no RAIN for SHORE THING and we needed your 50/50 money......Never gonna live that one down..If Gary doesn't get ya somebody else will.....John hit the nail on the head with the gang that attends the events, THEY are some of the greatest in the world. I for one will continue to attend different events because of the people I've met at them..I do like to try to go to different things each year. Watkins Glenn was great and Colorado was one of the best that I have been to. AS Dinah said see the USA but in a PT..

Here Here. I can forsee the NJ Cruisers one day inviting all cars to our events, when the pt does die down. But it will always be a PT cruiser club. And it will continue to be a great social club. Betty and I have met so many wonderful people (even you Gary), and continue to reap the reward in friendship from all of you year round. Its not about the car anymore, Its the PEOPLE

You are probably right Bill the Garden State Crew-zers may go that route as well some day, so many of the events we attend have mixed cars already. But we will always be the Garden State Crew-zers.
