I was thinking, it could be a noon-3pm picnic in the park and then bring the cars over into the field to all park together. http://www.playsinthepark.com/doowop.html FREE CONCERT! at Plays-In-The-Park! “DOO WOP IN THE PARK” Featuring THE BROOKLYN REUNION SHOW And THE FABULOUS GREASEBAND At PLAYS-IN-THE-PARK SUNDAY, AUGUST 31st, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. Gates will open at 3:00 p.m. The Brooklyn Reunion Show consists of the Classics, Passions and Mystics each performing selected material and highlights from their individual shows. They then join each other as one powerful vocal assembly, sharing their songs and back-in-the-day teen idol experiences with the audience. The three Brooklyn-bred groups have enjoyed a four-decade musical bond cemented by loyal friendship and a promise of lasting unity. In 1959, the Mystics were the first of the three groups to receive a record contract and cut their million-selling hit "Hushabye" on Laurie Records. The Mystics introduced the Passions to their manager, who secured a deal for the Passions on Audicon Records; the Passions' debut disc "Just To Be With You" went straight to the top of the charts. Could lightning strike a third time? The Mystics and the Passions set up an audition for the Classics with Dart Records. The Classics were indeed signed but struggled until their 1963 Musicnote recording of the Mills' Brothers chestnut "Till Then" zoomed to the top of the charts and established them as bonafide stars in the doo-wop universe. Over the past 46 years the Classics, Passions and Mystics have remained close friends, often working in each other's ensembles. In 1989, the groups celebrated their 30-year recording anniversary by performing the first Brooklyn Reunion concert at Radio City Music Hall. The show was a smashing success and has been a staple part of the groups' schedules ever since. The Fabulous Greaseband is a seven member "Best of the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's Rock 'n' Roll Party Band." Their highly entertaining and energetic delivery of the greatest dance songs ever written has kept the group on top for the last thirty years. The success enjoyed by the Greaseband has not come by chance. Aside from a unique blend of talented members, their offstage friendship and humor over the years has resulted in an on-stage delivery of spontaneous and infectious fun. |

replied on: 8/20/2008 7:20:57 AM I think we should meet up about 2:30pm so the PT's can pull in and park together. I email "Plays In The Park" and they said they won't reserve parking spaces. This week i'll look for a good meet up point. |

replied on: 8/20/2008 7:43:20 AM Going to miss this one, but when the B-reunion takes the stage lean back and listen to Emilio Stew-key-oh and the Classics as they bring back some of the great 50's and 60's music (Passions and Mystics are part of this also). this is going to be one fine show........ |
