About this section
replied on: 8/21/2004 10:43:49 PM

Before you read any further, I would like you to ask yourself a few questions.

Are you roleplaying a Free Woman on Gor - that is to say playing the role of a Free Woman on Gor - or are you just playing?

What is your mindset? Are you open-mindedly searching for what the role of a Free Woman is and can be? OR are you already set in your opinion of how you want to play and are looking for any smidgens of quotes that can be used for "backup" of your intended play?

If you are just playing and / or are determined to play gor a certain way and are only looking for obscure quotes to piece together to support your intentions, then you don't want to waste your time any further in this section.

That's not a hostile statement, it is just fact. This section isn't designed for you.

This section is designed for those who, whether new to the role of a Free Woman or not, have at least an interest in understanding what playing the role of a Free Woman "on Gor" would look like, feel like, and be like.

It is for those willing to know what would be considered proper and common, even when they choose to do otherwise in their roleplay, to know that they are indeed choosing to portray a FW in an unusual way. (And, thus, are understanding of the fact that their choice may very well lead to "unusual" responses and reactions.)

For at least the beginning phases, this section will resemble something of a Basic Training course. Basic Training is not all bad. Men (and women) who join the military, regardless of their prior education, experience, and training - all go through Basic Training.

If you are one who has read the books, and finds the online Gor experience doesn't feel much like what you read, it could very well be the result of the online tendency to zero in on what I call the "fringe" aspects of Gor. The exceptions. The tendency to create multitudes of characters that were -in the society JN wrote about - miniscule minorities.

Consider, as you read through what is here, your ability to make even just one small change to something to play your role as a Free Woman more in line with the way it is portrayed in the books - and how that might possibly lead to your experience feeling more like the books.
