replied on: 11/2/2004 12:02:28 AM Brentnall is a fairly common name in Derbyshire. Many appear in the Heanor census rolls. Others are in Ockbrook and Spondon. A marriage of a George Brentnall to Mary Pearson of Ilkeston appears on 12 Dec. 1825. Pearson was also the married name of Sarah's sister, or half-sister? It can be found at LDS Batch M055141 - 1813/1835 - Source Call No. 0498094 - Film 6905236 Another marriage of a George Brentnall to Mary Clark of Alfreton appears on 25th Nov 1833 at Alfreton. These could be a second marriage of the same George, if widowed. The 1881 census shows George Brentnall, retired bricklayer, age 69, born Ilkeston, living with wife Mary, age 72, at West Riddings Cottage, Alfreton. Another George Brentnall age 66, born in Heanor, coal miner, is living on Mill Road, Heanor with Catherine Brentnall, daughter, 22. Meanwhile Catherine Brentnall wife, age 46 is shown as head of family on Breach Road with sons John, George, Samuel, Alfred, daus. Alice and Clara, and grandson John Pearson |
