can anyone tell me anything about john stirland i knew him as uncle but dont know where he fits in the family.he strongly resembles my grt grand mother annie walker nee bingham.any info welcome.lesley.

I remember going to the church on Holbrook street during the 1960's and knew him from there. His sister Doris lived on Ebenezer Street at Langley Mill 1990's/2000's. I also remember he had a daughter and granddaughter (I think.)

im afraid the only information i have is that he was a lay preacher.possibly living marlpool/langley mill area.my grt grt grand mother was annie walker nee bingham.i have no idea where he fits in my tree.lesley85.

Hi Robert

A couple more chapels you may want to add to your list.
Christian Science church, Glasshouse hill Codnor. Now site of Firs nursing home.
There was also one other on Mill lane that was known as "tin tabs" because it was made of corrigated steel sheet. As a boy I was made to go to sunday school there until I revolted and refused to go anymore. Not sure if it was a proper chapel.
Now site of new Methedist church.
