It was built in 1927, but closed in the 1960s and later entirely converted into a modern bungalow. I can remember very clearly shopping here with my mother in the 1950s and early 1960s. Many times I went down wooden-steps in the back room into a dark basement storeroom to fetch an empty cardboard box to carry the shopping. Robert Turton. |
