The car sales place behind the busstop is another place that is closed and empty! The very large old bus shelter has now been replaced with a small modern one.I seem to remember in the 50's there was a large derelicy building/house behind there, but the bus shelter was so large you never really noticed what was behind it.

Ice

Look at the Crystal Palace thread in the Marlpool Forum, for details of name changes.

Durham closed eh? Not surprised.
The legion was also Kranks, a gas showroom , then reflections till burning down in 1983.

I also seem to recall the legion was called the Texan diner but maybe my minds playing tricks.
Anyone remember Ken Dodd playing the Working Mens club around 1980?

Piece of land behind the bus-stop bottom of Milnhay in my memory was used for storing clay for the pottery

The house I do remember was opposite the bus stop near Milnhay-quite a large house-in 1940's /50's it was used as offices for the pottery. Don't know who it belonged to before that.

It had belonged to the pottery since the pottery was formed. I've a sneaking feeling that it belonged originally to either Calvert or Lovatt - I'll try and check

Probably.....

A thread to do with Milnhay House and Edstone House is probably best.

(Then I can delete these!!!!)
