Ann Marie

Try this link, though I think you'll find the phone number should start 01629 rather than 01620

I was very interested to read your posting.

My mother and Aunt worked at Collaros. I didn't realise there was a book, can you purchase it locally?

Ann Marie.
My Dad worked at Collaro's he was a setter on the auto lathes, his boss was a Londoner,Ernie Paffey.I remember dad taking me down to the canteen and loads of ladies making a fuss (very nice but I was only 4 at the time)and they used to give me very big shortcake biscuits with chocolate on one side, still one of my favourites.Dad also made us some hot water bottles from shell cases.

New page on Hallam's on the main website.

Anyone know which year the new offices were built at Hallams? (Late 50's/early 60's)

Certainly in the 1980's he lived in a house set back down a long drive off Ilkeston Road. As you travel towards Ilkeston, the driveway was on your right just after the Mundy Arms.

Hi All, Been some time since I was last here that I totally forgot I ever was! (previously Sprocket)

Anyways I remembered something from my past that relates to Vic Hallams and wondered if anyone has any information?. My dad used to take me to Vic Hallams on a sunday where people used to go to play poker and other card games I am not sure if this was some sort of a pub/club or just a meeting place where no alcohol was involved.
The last time I went I remember I swung on a table playing with friends and the table came away from the wall and smashed the bridge of my nose!
I am more curious as to how it came about that people were meeting in what I thought was a 'factory' type place for cards and whatnot.

Thanks xx
