Certainly, Berle Avenue in Heanor, which I assume takes its name from the same person, was named after Cecil Berle, a local theatrical celebrity who specialised in Shakespearen type roles and who often could be seen wearing a large hat and a cloak. He did charity shows during the First World War, which is what makes me suspect that the house name is later than that.

It may be Post WW1 as you say, but the only period i do actually know about is from approximately the mid 1920s to the late -30s. It seems to get more and more intriguing date-wise. Azzabuv.
